This Gossip Girl actor has been accused of rape by an actress and is being investigated by the LAPD
Kristina Cohen spoke about the incident in a long Facebook message where she described the incident and why she did not have the courage to speak up previously. This comes in after the sexual assaults by Harvey Weinstein came in light.
After the Harvey Weinstein scandal threw dirt on Hollywood, every day we have come across some other actor or celebrity being accused of sexual misconduct in the industry. Now, yet another actress has opened up about an incident that took place about three years ago, and this time, actor Ed Westwick has been accused.
Ed is best known for playing Chuck Bass in the popular show Gossip Girl, while Kristina is best known for her roles in Greek, Californication, and Earthwalkers. The actress shared the incident in a long Facebook page where she mentioned how it had been hard for her to come forward but after looking at other actresses talking about their bad experiences, she felt the need to open up.
Kristina wrote about how it had been a dark time for her as she had no system of support. Her mother had been diagnosed with cancer which took a huge toll on the actress. During this time, she had been dating a 'producer', whose name she does not reveal.
Kristina recalled that she and her producer boyfriend visited Ed at his house when the Gossip Girl actor said, "We should all f**k”. This was the first time that Kristina was meeting with Ed and his statement did not make her feel comfortable at all.
She continued that this was when Ed insisted that Kristina and her boyfriend stay over for dinner, but Kristina was not okay with the idea. However, her producer boyfriend suggested that the two stayed there for a bit longer. She was still not convinced by the proposition.
According to Kristina, Ed then suggested that she could nap in the guest bedroom, while her boyfriend told her that they would leave in 20 minutes in order to make the situation less awkward. So, Kristina did as she was told and eventually fell asleep in the room.
The actress then wrote about the horrific experience that followed. "I was woken up abruptly by Ed on top of me, his fingers entering my body. I told him to stop, but he was strong. I fought him off as hard as I could but he grabbed my face in his hands, shaking me, telling me he wanted to fuck me," she wrote.
"I was paralyzed, terrified. I couldn't speak, I could no longer move. He held me down and raped me." she continued. The days following that weren't any better for Kristina because when she told her boyfriend about the incident, he, in turn, blamed Kristina saying that she had been an 'active participant' in the act.
At the same time, the producer asked Kristina not to speak about the incident ever again because if she did, Ed would 'come after her, destroy her'. The producer also told Kristina that Ed was capable of finishing her entire acting career and it was for the best if she did not mention the incident to anyone.
Kristina wrote that she finally had the courage to write about the incident because she was tired of seeing a man like Ed walking freely just because he was powerful and had a name in the industry. "I'm sickened to see men like Ed respected in such a public way," she wrote.
"Interviewed by prestigious platforms such as the Oxford Union Society at Oxford University, where he was honored as one of their 'People who Shape our World'. How does this end? Men like Ed using fame and power to rape and intimidate but then continue through the world collecting accolades," she continued.
Kristina ended her post on an encouraging note for other women, asking them to come forward with their stories. Meanwhile, Ed also responded via an Instagram post, where he denied all the allegations made by Kristina.
Now, Kristina has resorted to taking help from the Los Angeles Police Department and the LAPD is now investigating the incident in order to determine if "the suspect forced the victim to have sexual intercourse inside his residence… three years ago". A close friend of the actress has also corroborated her account of the alleged assault.
