Bekah M reveals why she went 'missing' and the Bachelor she prefers over Arie
Bekah was eliminated on Monday’s episode of The Bachelor.
Bekah Martinez was arguably the most interesting woman on The Bachelor this season, and it does not all have to do with her age. Most of us learned that she was legally a "missing person" thanks to her mother and the Humboldt County Sheriff’s Office.
While there has been quite a bit of confusion regarding how a missing person resurfaced on The Bachelor, one thing most people were quick to assume is that Bekah lied and ran away from home to be a reality star. However, a freshly eliminated Bekah is here to clear up those rumors.
The 22-year-old, who was sent away by the current Bachelor Arie Luyendyk Jr., appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live! to reveal that her mother was aware of her appearance on the dating show.
It was, in fact, after she wrapped up taping that she left home with a bunch of friends on a nature retreat sans all electronic equipment.
“I just decided to go to the mountains with my friends for a couple weeks and I was there for six or seven days without phone service which I thought I was going to have phone service and I told my mother that I would,” Bekah told Jimmy.
A week in, she did have a – sort of - premonition about what would happen, but it was a bit too late. Bekah elaborated, "I just had this weird feeling like on the sixth or seventh day, I need to go home now. So, I got in my car, drove to where I had service, called my parents and then come to find out only 12 hours before my mother had called the Humboldt Sheriff’s Department saying that I was missing."
Even though she is back and everything has been sorted, Bekah's friends are not letting her live the incident down. Considering her shocking elimination, though, that is the least of her worries.
She was sent home because of Tia, who told Arie during a group date that she didn’t think Bekah was ready for marriage, and as soon as Bekah said, “I think I am starting to fall for him, and I have a lot of hope for our relationship."
As soon as Ari, who has constantly worried about Bekah's young age, heard that Bekah was not ready to get married, he sent her packing, and most viewers – including yours, truly – believe she was the coolest chick on that show this season.
Even she tried mascara-infused tears as she said goodbye, the fans can find solace in the fact that Ari was not even her first choice. She in fact told Jimmy she "was hoping" the Bachelor whose heart she would compete for, "would be Peter [Kraus] and it ended it up being Arie."
Also, could we collectively agree that she would be the best pick for the next Bachelorette? Not-so-subtle hint-hint, ABC.
