In case you've only just gotten hooked onto Bachelor Nation, you might not know who Arie Luyendyk Jr is, but he's going to play an important role in your TV watching experience. This mysterious person is the new Bachelor and that's a prestigious title to hold as far as reality television goes.

Luyendyk Jr is the lucky person who gets to choose his soulmate from a whole bunch of women. Naturally, he's quite excited about finding true love. He told Good Morning America host Michael Strahan, "This feels more natural. I’m not concerned what people think. I’m just focused on the outcome. I want to find my person and will do whatever it takes!"

Even if he's looking forward to being on the show, we're not sure if fans share the same enthusiasm. The decision to make Luyendyk Jr the next Bachelor came out of nowhere. After all, Eric Bigger, Dean Ungler and everyone's favorite person, Peter Kraus were the frontrunners this year. And their shock at finding Luyendyk Jr in the hot seat was evident. Remember a time Emily Maynard was on the show? Well, Luyendyk Jr was one among the many men who tried to charm her. He was sent home early and lost to Jef Holm, but was a favorite among fans. He was in talks with ABC to appear on The Bachelor a few years ago but Chris Souls was chosen instead. Luyendyk Jr said the timing is now perfect for him to be on the show. "Now that I’ve had some time and distance away from it, it feels like the feeling I had before I went into it the first time. I think sometimes when you’re on The Bachelorette and you jump right into being the Bachelor, for me it would’ve been too soon," he said on Good Morning America.

Don't let his pretty boy looks fool you. Luyendyk Jr loves the adrenaline rush when he's speeding on the track. Actually, his Instagram account indicates that he likes all forms out outdoor sports. If he's not driving a sports car, then he's probably cycling down a hill.

The 36-year-old reality star has a Dutch nationality and drove for Team Netherlands at the A1 Grand Prix in 2008. According to his Twitter profile, he is an Indy Lights Winner, Indy 500 competitor and X Games medalist.

3. He's got a glowing review from past Bachelorette contestant

Luyendyk Jr is adventurous, energetic and the possessor of a captivating smile. And according to season 8 Bachelorette Maynard, he also has a heart of gold, is a great kisser and apparently, it doesn't get better than that. He said on Good Morning America that he's been waiting to have that spark with someone and is ready to settle down. His lady love will certainly become a world traveler when she's with him.

According to Robert Mills, ABC's Senior Vice-President, Luyendyk Jr was genuinely in love with Maynard and went to her house after the show got over. Since then, he's been trying to find true love and have what she has – a loving partner and babies!

The reality star also appeared on Hell's Kitchen in 2012 when participants headed to Long Beach Grand Prix where Luyendyk Jr was participating.
