Oh boy! Indian diplomat disses Ivanka Trump and Saudi royalty in one epic line
An Indian diplomat set aside the art of diplomacy to diss both Ivanka Trump and Saudi princes in epic fashion. The diplomat was talking to the editor-in-chief of an Indian newspaper, the Hindustan Times, after which he tweeted the zinger.
The diplomat was pretty upset that Donald Trump had announced that his daughter Ivanka would head the US delegation to the Global Entrepreneurship Summit, to be held in the country in November.
"We regard Ivanka Trump the way we do half-wit Saudi princes. It's in our national interest to flatter them," he reportedly told the newspaper in an interview.
And he didn't stop there: “Yes, it is a shame that the US should be compared to a kingdom. But that is America's shame, not Modi's, or India's.”
The US Department of State says the three-day event encouraged collaboration between American entrepreneurs and investors with international counterparts "to form lasting relationships".
The reaction was swift and strangely supportive of the Indian diplomat.
