Prince William made a distasteful joke about him and his wife Kate Middleton "spreading coronavirus" on their tour of Ireland this week. He also suggested that a few people are panicking about "dying" but have "just got a cough". The Duke of Cambridge made the comments to the Irish workers while having a pint of beer in Dublin during a reception. William asked an advance paramedic with the National Ambulance Service, Joe Mooney, "I bet everyone's like 'I've got coronavirus, I'm dying', and you're like, 'No, you've just got a cough'."

"Does it seem quite dramatic about coronavirus at the moment? Is it being a little bit hyped up do you think in the media?" the father of three asked the paramedic. William added, "By the way, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are spreading coronavirus, Sorry. We're keeping an eye on that, so do tell us if we need to stop."

The Duke and Duchess are on a three-day visit to Ireland. The pair is said to be taking advice on the coronavirus but will continue to meet people as usual. William and Kate shook hands with many people on the first day of their tour and are expected to continue to do so.

A royal source shared that the couple has been following guidance from Public Health England and the Department of Health, Daily Mail reports. The source shared, "This is a discussion we have been having and everything we are doing should continue as usual."

William was heard telling those present at the reception, "Catherine and I are delighted to be here tonight." "Ireland is a country that we have both heard so much about, so we are really excited to be here with you to see it first-hand for ourselves."

Recently, the Queen herself was seen wearing gloves while presenting honors during an investiture ceremony in light of the coronavirus. This is the first time that she has done so ever since she started carrying out the ceremonies in 1952.
