Porn site BangBros places $10 million bid for naming rights to Miami Heat arena, says basketball team was their 'huge fan'
The Miami Heat has been playing games at the American Airlines Arena (AAA), thanks to the longstanding sponsorship from the flight company. However, there is a distinct possibility that they could be playing their matches in the future from the "BangBros Center," named after a porn site.
With American Airlines' announcement on September 12 that it doesn't plan on renewing their contract with the Miami Heat arena, a bidding war has begun, with the porn site BangBros making the headlines after it declared that it was one of the contenders to win the naming rights.
"We've officially Submitted our $10,000,000 bid for the naming rights to the Miami Heat Arena. We wish to thank American Airlines for their past support of the @MiamiHEAT We intend to change the name to the BangBros Center aka 'The BBC'" the company tweeted.
In a statement, attached to the tweet, the porn company also explained why it would be apt for the venue to collaborate with it. It began by saying that while Miami was known for its "South Beach, beautiful women, and sports teams like the professional NBA team, the Miami Heat," the city was also famous for Bangbros.
"So it makes sense to pair up winning programs like the Miami Heat and BangBros for a sponsorship opportunity, naming the home arena they play in," the statement added, claiming that the basketball team was a "huge fan" of the porn site.
To show their commitment in getting the deal finalized, the BangBros has already gone ahead and bought the domain "bangbroscenter.com" in order to "partner up and broadcast, promote, market, and help take the Heat from out of the 305 to WorldWide."
The BangBros even posted a photoshopped picture of what the arena would look like if they happen to win the bid.
However, it is unlikely that the porn site will end up winning the bid because the Cleveland Superlative Group, handling the deal, said in 2018 that naming rights will be worth triple the $2 million that American Airlines paid. Hence, BangBros bid of $10 million for the next 10 years of gaining naming rights is most likely to fall short of the required amount.
