The longtime mayor of Poland’s port city of Gdansk, Pawel Adamowicz, died on Monday after being stabbed in the heart while he was on stage at a weekend charity event.
Reports state that the popular mayor, who had been leading the region for nearly 20 years, had been talking on Sunday about the city's generosity at the finale of a children's hospital charity event, known as the Great Orchestra of Christmas, when he was attacked.
