Police have confirmed they are investigating sexual assault allegations leveled against one of the Louisville Metro Police officers accused in the shooting death of Beronna Taylor killed as she was sleeping in her home.

MEA WorldWide (MEAWW) previously reported how Breonna Taylor, a 26-year-old black emergency medical technician, was killed on March 13 after LMPD Sgt. Jonathan Mattingly and officers Brett Hankison and Myles Cosgrove arrived at her home at 1 am with a no-knock search warrant and broke down her door.

Kenneth Walker, Taylor's boyfriend who was living with her and is licensed to carry, suspected their home was being broken into and fired a shot. He struck Mattingly in the femoral artery, and in response, was met by 20 rounds in return, some of which hit, and killed Taylor.

All three officers are the subject of a wrongful death lawsuit from Taylor's family, a civil lawsuit from Taylor's neighbor Chelsea Napper, and investigations being conducted by Louisville Metro Police's Public Integrity Unit and the FBI. However, none have been charged and are all currently on administrative leave.

Louisville Metro Police also confirmed to People this past week that initial steps had been taken to "conduct an investigation" against Hankison over sexual assault allegations made against him by two women on social media.

In a Facebook post on June 4, Margo Borders said Hankison had sexually assaulted her in April 2018 while she was unconscious after driving her home following a night out, and that the incident had traumatized her.

"He drove me home in uniform, in his marked car, invited himself into my apartment and sexually assaulted me while I was unconscious," she wrote. "It took me months to process what had happened and to realize that it wasn’t my fault and I didn’t ask for that to happen by allowing him to give me a ride home."

"I never reported him out of fear of retaliation. I had no proof of what happened and he had the upper hand because he was a police officer. Who do you call when the person who assaulted you is a police officer? Who were they going to believe? I knew it wouldn’t be me."

Emily Terry had shared a similar story on Instagram and said Hankison assaulted her in 2019 after he spotted her walking home alone, intoxicated, and offered to give her a ride.

"A police officer pulled up next to me and offered me a ride home. I thought to myself, 'Wow. That is so nice of him.' And willingly got in," she shared. "He began making sexual advances towards me; rubbing my thigh, kissing my forehead, and calling me 'baby'."

"Mortified, I did not move. I continued to talk about my grad school experiences and ignored him. As soon as he pulled up to my apartment building, I got out of the car and ran to the back," she continued. "My friend reported this the next day, and of course nothing came from it."

Besides the wrongful death lawsuit, civil lawsuit, and sexual allegations, People reported that Hankison is also the accused in an ongoing civil lawsuit in federal court that accuses him of unrelated unnecessary arrests and harassment of one Kendrick Wilson.
