Police cordon off street after dogs 'in a frenzy' attack two women leaving one 'covered in blood'
LIVERPOOL, UNITED KINGDOM: Cops reportedly cordoned off an entire street after two dogs viciously mauled two women. Kevin Cannon, an eyewitness, reportedly said that the two dogs started fighting before people got involved. He said, "I saw the two women in the street, and I think there had been a fight. The other woman was yelling, 'Help her,' as one of the women was covered in blood."
Cannon continued, "The dogs were savaging the woman. I have never witnessed anything like it. One of them had her leggings in its mouth and the other had ripped off her top," adding, "There was blood everywhere and she had injuries to her face and neck. She was in a really bad way. The dogs were in a frenzy. They were white Staffies but were red with blood."

Utter chaos on street
Early on Thursday morning, April 20, a number of policemen and paramedics were reportedly in the Walton neighborhood. Photographs from the location showed numerous police vehicles, including vans, lining Walton Lane.
A short while later, police tape was placed across nearby Ismay Street. Locals reportedly said that they saw a police helicopter flying above the scene of the incident. Inside the cordoned-off area, a pair of slippers had been dumped. At 9.45 am, forensic officers too entered the area, as reported by The Mirror.
Locals reportedly said that they saw armed police officers rushing across the said street where the attack took place. A woman who lived on the street said, "There's always something," adding that she heard bangs and loud noises around 3am and the ruckus woke her toddler.
Cannon, who called the police, reportedly said that he honked several times to scare the dogs away. He told ECHO, "When I saw it running over, I was shaking. My instant reaction was to help but I saw the dogs were in a frenzy. I'm a single parent - if I got injured and had to go to hospital my daughter would be on her own. I'm an animal lover and know the staffies' instincts are to protect."
'It's sickening to have seen it'
Describing the police descending on to the street, Cannon said, "I believe there were about 12 police vehicles. When the police arrived, they hit one of the dogs with their car, and the other dog fled in the direction of City Road. In an effort to find the other dog, the police helicopter was overhead," adding, "It's one of those things you read about or see on TV. To see it was surreal. It's sickening to have seen it. It was horrendous."
The women attacked by the dogs were taken to a hospital with significant injuries but they are said to be in stable condition. A 40-year-old woman was detained on suspicion of having a dangerously out-of-control dog that was responsible for injuring people and was brought to a police station in Merseyside, where she is still being held. Police have taken both dogs into custody.
Detective Inspector Neil Dillon said that the incident was exceedingly traumatic for everyone. He reportedly said, "I would like to commend our officers whose quick response and actions stopped this horrific attack from causing any more significant injuries to those involved."
Dillon continued, "Our enquiries into the full circumstances of the incident are ongoing, and we have seized the dogs for the safety of the community. We have a dedicated team who review all cases concerning dangerous dogs and are keen to speak to any witnesses who may have seen the incident or these dogs on previous occasions." They asked the general public to be "mindful" of their dogs' behavior and urged them to "make sure they are in a protected space and on a lead or muzzled if out in public.”
