While 'Pokémon Journeys: The Series'  Episode 1: 'Enter Pikachu!' opens with the introduction of Pichu, who then goes on to become Pikachu, the other main highlight is the introduction of a new character, Goh (voiced by Zeno Robinson). The 10-year-old is introduced as a smart aleck kid who claims to know everything about Pokémon. And he lives up to that statement as he recognizes most of them in the jungle while being part of Professor Oak's camp. From Farfetch'D to Diglets, he names each creature and their powers expertly.

The first episode also outlines Goh as a character who is not an easy kid to get along with. His friend Chloe tells him that his Mr know-it-all attitude cost him his friends. To add, he also calls Ash Ketchum (voiced by Sarah Natochenny), his future friend and team-mate an irresponsible idiot for delaying Oak's camp. But his immense knowledge about Pokémon stems from the fact that he is indeed passionate about them and hopes to catch all of them one day.

His match is met when he sees Mew, the mythical Pokémon that meets him and Chloe in the jungle. Mew beats Nidoking using the latter's own moves, makes friends with a  baby Kangaskhan and then plays with it until the little tyke manages to climb up a small hill. When Mew's done playing and is about to leave, the baby Kangaskhan starts crying and loses balance falling off. Mew saves it by putting the baby in a state of suspended animation and then slowly puts it on the ground.

An astonished Goh watches all this and is determined to catch Mew at all costs. The question is will he? As far as Ash is concerned, the enthusiastic trainer meets Pikachu. The very same Pichu who evolves after spending much of its time with the group of Kangaskhans. 'Enter Pikachu!' serves as the introductory episode to both Pichu, the evolution and meeting Ash, and Goh who goes on to eventually become Ash's pal.

'Pokémon Journeys: The Series' is currently streaming on Netflix. New episodes will be added quarterly.
