Playboi Carti has teased an album release by sharing new cover art.

Carti released his debut album 'Die Lit' in 2018, and his rumored second album 'Whole Lotta Red' is expected to drop sometime this year.

Since his debut, the rapper went on to work with many big names in the industry including Tyler the Creator, members of the A$AP Mob (whose label he is currently signed to), Quavo, Lana Del Rey, Lil Yachty, Frank Ocean, and Lil Uzi Vert.

Carti has now revealed the cover art for an upcoming project via an Instagram post shared on the anniversary of his eponymous 2017 mixtape. The art features the rapper seated facing a back wall, shrouded in darkness, and bathed in blue lighting, despite the album title being 'Whole Lotta Red' based on a 2018 recording in which Carti can be heard speaking about the album's title and musical direction.

He also previously revealed he was itching to release the record and would therefore not have anyone featuring on it, but in a separate interview, he revealed 'Whole Lotta Red' would see guest appearances from Gunna and Trippie Red, among others. He also later revealed the album's release date as 2020 in an interview with Culture Kings.

Frequent collaborator Vert also teased new music from Carti in a since-deleted tweet on April 12 that stated, "Playboy Carti :)," which began speculation into what Carti would be dropping soon. Ken Carson, who is a member of Carti's label 'OPIUM' also hopped online a little later to confirm that Carti's photo was, in fact, the album cover art and that it would be dropping on April 16. His tweets have also, however, since been deleted.

Carti himself has not confirmed or denied any of the fan theories.

His silence might have something to do with the fact that the rapper has been busy with other matters, particularly his April 2 arrest on gun and drug-related charges. He was released on April 3. He has previously also faced charges of assault, including domestic assault.

Outside of his music, Carti is known for being a model who has worked with the likes of Kanye West and Louis Vuitton, as well as most famously, for being in a sex tape with ex-girlfriend Blac Chyna and being the current boyfriend of fellow rapper Iggy Azalea.
