Pitchfork Music Festival 2018 announces first wave of performers: Tame Impala, Japandroids, DRAM, Kelela and more
Strangely enough, each performer's name is revealed as it's painted on an ongoing mural in Chicago’s Wicker Park neighborhood, with the process being streamed on Pitchfork's homepage. So it's literally like watching paint dry!
Pitchfork announced the first round of their lineup for the 2018 Pitchfork Music Festival on Wednesday (Feb. 27), which forms the 13th edition of the opinion shaping music website's alternative music festival.
Although just the first wave of performers and only one headliner has been announced, the line-up already looks very promising.
Performers announced so far range from (Sandy) Alex G to Kelela and D.R.A.M. and Japandroids. Headlining the festival on day 1 is Kevin Parker's brainchild and one of Pitchfork's favorites, Tame Impala.
In a teasingly slow unveiling, the lineup will come in waves over the next few weeks, according to a press release. Each artist's name is revealed as it's painted on an ongoing mural in Chicago’s Wicker Park neighborhood, with the process being streamed on Pitchfork's homepage, making the term “watching paint dry” seem all too literal! You can also follow Pitchfork's Twitter account for regular updates.

"With 50 individual vendors, as well as specialty record and craft fairs, the festival works to support local businesses while promoting the Chicago arts and food communities as a whole," the site adds.
"We maintain a commitment to keeping ticket prices low, providing new and useful amenities, and working with the city’s best local vendors each year."
