Oscar-winning filmmaker Danny Boyle is set to take viewers on a thrilling journey with the upcoming series ‘Pistol’. The series revolves around the English punk rock band Sex Pistols and the band’s rise to prominence and notoriety.

The upcoming show will primarily focus on the group’s guitarist Steve Jones and will also explore how the band became a significant influence on the punk image. Even though the group’s career only lasted for three years, the band is undoubtedly considered to be one of the most influential bands in history. In 2004, Rolling Stone placed the band at No. 58 on its list of the "100 Greatest Artists of All Time”.

When does ‘Pistol’ release and where can you watch it?

The FX series will be premiering exclusively on Tuesday, May 31, and will stream exclusively on FX on Hulu at 12:01 am EST.

What is ‘Pistol’ all about?

The official synopsis reads, “The series, which is based on the memoir of guitarist Steve Jones, tells the story of the band from West London’s council estates to Vivienne Westwood and Malcolm McLaren’s notorious Kings Road SEX shop to the international controversy that came with the release of ‘Never Mind the Bollocks’, which was banned by the BBC and frequently is listed as one of the most influential albums of all time.”

Who stars in the FX series?

Toby Wallace will be seen playing the role of guitarist Steve Jones while Anson Boon portrays the character of Johnny Rotten. On the other hand, Louis Partridge will play Sid Vicious and Maisie Williams stars as Jordan.

The Australian actor started acting when he was very young and made his first appearance in a feature film titled ‘Lucky Country’. For this role, he was nominated for an Australian Film Institute Award for Best Young Actor. Since then, he has been a part of several high-end projects such as ‘The Turning’, ‘Boys in the Trees’, ‘Babyteeth’, ‘Neighbours’, and ‘The Society’.



 

Other actors to feature in the show include Jacob Slater (Paul Cook), Christian Lees (Glen Matlock), Emma Appleton (Nancy Spungen), and Talulah Riley (Vivienne Westwood). 

Showrunners

Based on Steve Jones’ memoir ‘Lonely Boy: Tales From a Sex Pistol’, the upcoming series is being created by Craig Pearce and written by the dynamic duo of Pearce and Frank Cottrell-Boyce. The series is being directed by Danny Boyle.

Boyle, Jones, Pearce, Anita Camarata, Hope Hartman, Paul Lee, Gail Lyon, and Tracy Seaward will serve as executive producers on the show.
