“I hereby declare, for Electoral Vote purposes, that Twitter shall heretofore be known as Clitter.” Thanks to CNN’s prime TV news anchor Anderson Cooper, Twitter has a new name that is approved by the Internet. It happened when Cooper was talking on CNN live coverage of the election about President Donald Trump’s early claim in winning and how he has been making "false claims" regarding the mail-in ballots counting. "You heard the president overnight basic– basically declaring victory, claiming that fraud was being committed and making false claims on clitter – on, on, excuse me, on Twitter," Cooper said stuttering for a second.

But it was too late as the gaffe has already solidified its place as the trending meme of the hour. Twitter users quickly took it up and added to the list of hilarious mishaps that have contributed as comic relief in this otherwise intense election coverage. One user claimed: “i will now refer to twitter as clitter from now own.” Another commented, “Clitter seems appropriate for much of romance twitter.” “Twitter is dead. Long live Clitter,” read another tweet. “@andersoncooper accidentally calling "Twitter" "Clitter" is my kink,” quipped another.

More innovative ideas started pouring in as a user suggested, “If Clitter don’t become the name for Lesbian Twitter or a dating service than Anderson being tired as f**k is wasted.” “Anderson Cooper stole my idea for lesbian twitter called Clitter,” said one to which another replied, “Sounds like the best bet, because lonely straight men won't be able to find it.” “Clitter is Twitter but for the girls and the gays,” commented yet another user.

Demands to make change the official name of Twitter to Clitter also emerged in large numbers. “@jack petition to change Twitter to Clitter?” “November 4th, 2020 will always be known as the day Anderson Cooper said "clitter" instead of "twitter." As the Twitterati asked for the change, one user wondered: “So, if a post on Twitter is called a Tweet then a post on Clitter is called..?” While others thanked the 'Anderson Cooper 360' host for this much-needed Twitter tizzy amid the long sleepless hours of election coverage. “Anderson Cooper saying “clitter” instead of “Twitter” on live tv has helped during this difficult time. #Election2020.”

Cooper has been running the show 20 seasons now where he goes beyond the headlines to delver deeper into the issues, lending a different take on news consumption. The first episode of the show was aired on September 8, 2003. So far, Cooper hasn’t addressed the issue on his Twitter...errr Clitter.
