Peter Navarro slams Dr Fauci’s Covid-19 advice, Angry Internet says ‘Trump administration at war with itself’
Navarro was slammed for saying that 'Dr. Anthony Fauci has a good bedside manner with the public, but he has been wrong about everything I have interacted with him on'
While coronavirus continues to grip the US and the death tolls are surging exponentially with each passing day, some of the top leaders are seen bickering over whose advice worsened the pandemic situation in the nation.
A while ago, the White House called out the director of National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, Dr Anthony Fauci, for being inefficient with his response to Covid-19. On Tuesday, July 14, American economist and Trump’s assistant Peter Navarro, in an op-ed for USA Today, has publicly slammed Fauci.
Navarro begins his piece by saying, “Dr. Anthony Fauci has a good bedside manner with the public, but he has been wrong about everything I have interacted with him on.” In the rest of the letter, he has praised Trump for being “courageous” about taking down flights from China in the initial stages of the pandemic outbreak and blamed Fauci for letting news media “not to worry."
Navarro has noted in his piece that if someone asks him whether they should listen to Dr Fauci, he would say, “Only with skepticism and caution.” Navarro’s letter has garnered a lot of attention for the obvious reasons, with some saying they would listen to a doctor over an economist any day and some slamming Trump for letting the drama unfold within his administration when hundreds and thousands are dying of the deadly disease.
While one said, “Mr. <checks notes> navarro, Bulls**t! While you spew propaganda on behalf of your supreme leader, we have had to scramble to find someone credible for the information required to save our lives.”
“Peter Navarro, shut your mouth you gaslighting piece of human excrement. I trust Dr Fauci more than you. You’re not even qualified to be head dog catcher much less hold the position you do now, whatever it is. #gotohell #NAVARROFire #Gaslighter,” another added.
Meanwhile, one angry Twitter user called out Trump tweeting, “Dear @realDonaldTrump: You should either fire Peter Navarro, or you should fire Dr. Fauci. But you can’t keep confusing the American people with your officials making contradictory statements about covid. It’s a ridiculous way to govern. Get your act together. Lives are at stake.”
Seconding the above tweet, another user wrote, “Never in my lifetime have I seen a senior adviser to the president write an op-ed attacking another member of the president's own administration, but that's what Peter Navarro just did with Dr. Fauci. The Trump administration is at war with itself.”
