Things look like they are going to get a lot more supernaturally charged in the upcoming episode 7 with Magda (Natalie Dormer) making her presence felt in more ways than one.

In last week's episode, Peter Craft (Rory Kinnear) cruelly got rid of his alcoholic wife by committing her to a sanatorium with the threat that she will never see her boys if she resists. This week Magda, disguised as Elsa and her fake son, Frank (Santino Barnard), moves into his house.

Needless to say, Tom Craft (Julian Hilliard) who Frank seems to take special delight in torturing, psychologically, will be very very scared. According to the official synopsis, Maria Vega (Adriana Barraza), who works as a maid in the Craft household will also sense that Elsa is someone to be feared.

It will be interesting to see how the show will handle Maria's interactions with her because Elsa looks exactly like Rio, except for their hair and overall demeanor. Will we be having a Clark Kent-Superman-like moment here? Or will Maria realize that they are both manifestations of the same demon?

The trailer shows that when Santa Muerte comes to Maria when she prays, asking her why her sons are being taken away from her one by one, she brings along uninvited guest -- Magda herself.

Magda then tempts Maria saying she will "bring her peace". There is a reason why this episode is called 'Maria and the Beast' after all. The question is will Maria succumb or will she hold on to her faith in the indifferent Santa Muerte? Her decision might not affect her family alone but the whole of LA.

Maria is utterly alone right now with Raul badly injured and Mateo on the run. Tiago was never around in the first place, living in his squalid apartment in the city, and now Josefina’s (Jessica Garza) newfound faith will also put her at odds with Maria and the rest of her family.

Meanwhile, a haggard-looking Tiago with a day's stubble won't be resting easy after condemning an innocent Diego (Adan Rocha) to the gas chamber. When Molly (Kerry Bishe) visits Tiago at his apartment, he will still be wrestling with his guilt over Diego's false confession.

The trailer also shows that Lewis Michener (Nathan Lane) isn't going to let Tiago off that easy either. As payback for the "favor" he did for him by helping him frame Diego, he is going to ask for his help with his strictly off-the-books campaign against the Nazis in LA. This episode will also see Dottie (Lin Shaye) and Lewis confront Brian (Kyle McArthur), the Caltech student, for lying about his dueling allegiances. Lewis will flat out ask him, "are you a Nazi?'

Meanwhile, Councilwoman Beck (Christine Estabrook) will come after Alex, knowing that she is the true puppetmaster, telling her that she will know her secret soon. Given that Alex is really Magda, Councilwoman Beck might have bitten off more than she can chew. But for now, Alex will be content strategizing with Townsend (Michael Gladis) on how to defeat Councilwoman Beck rather than take more drastic measures.

'Penny Dreadful: City of Angels' airs new episodes every Sundays at 10/9c on SHOWTIME.
