'Peaky Blinders' Season 5 Episode 6 Preview: Will Alfie Solomons come back for an explosive finale?

The show dropped a major hint in episode five that Tom Hardy's Jewish character may be alive and might make a return in the season finale
PUBLISHED SEP 16, 2019

The fifth episode of 'Peaky Blinders' had an action-packed ending with an assassination plot hatched by Thomas Shelby (Cillian Murphy) for his arch-nemesis Oswald Mosley (Sam Claflin). It is yet to be seen who walks away with all guns blazing in the final chapter, but there is also another twist in the tale.

It seems Tom Hardy's character Alfie Solomons will come back to the scene. The hint came like a major surprise when Tommy told Jimmy McCavern (Brian Gleeson): "I would suggest the most competent organizer of men in the south is Alfie Solomons." Jimmy answered back, "He’s [Alfie Solomons] dead. And, he’s Jewish and I’d say him being dead would be less of an obstacle for our boss than him being Jewish," but Tommy didn't say a word to him. Isn't that a huge clue that Solomons might return?

Titled 'Mr Jones', the final episode is expected to end on an explosive note but there are many questions waiting to be answered. In the fifth episode, Oswald Mosley's evil side finally came into play as he took advantage of a weak moment and pulled the crowd to his rousing speech in favor of a new revolution in the name of The British Union of Fascists.

The summary reveals: "News of Tommy’s (Cillian Murphy) activities have reached Winston Churchill (Neil Maskell). At a family meeting, Tommy lays out his plans for Mosley (Sam Claflin), which will take place at a rally Sir Oswald is leading. Tommy is surprised by another strategy, coming from an unexpected corner."

"Meanwhile, Tommy has his own secrets to reveal. Tommy’s plan to kill Oswald Mosley also was thrown into action when he broke out a former war comrade Barney Thomas (Cosmo Jarvis) from an asylum. As Arthur (Paul Anderson) reveals: "Barney Thomas is going to kill Oswald Mosley - shoot him in the f****** head.'"

Going by the description, it seems Thomas Shelby's plan will go haywire and another Plan B will have to be taken into account. With all the mystery surrounding the war, there is a huge possibility that Alfie Solomons might have a hand in helping the Shelby clan survive.

The final episode of season 5 will premiere on BBC One on Sunday, September 22.
