'Party of Five' Episode 2 (Freeform)

The pilot episode of Freeform’s ‘Party of Five’ began and ended on a heart-wrenching note. Gloria and Javier get arrested from their restaurant on account of illegal immigration to the United States and lack of papers. Towards the end of the episode, after losing their battle at the court for overturning their deportation, the couple is forced to leave the country. Gloria and Javier leave behind their five children.

Bidding an emotional goodbye, Gloria and Javier tell the Acosta siblings to stick together no matter what and be there for each other In episode 2, we see the children keep up to their promises, only to realize it’s going to be one rough ride.

Valentina, like her mother Gloria, believes that when everything falls apart, you can still find the last ray of light by turning to faith. The little girl goes to church and wishes for a miracle to bring her parents back into her life.

However, Lucia has had enough of the family drama and wants to live independently. So much so that following her parents’ deportation, she decides to cut ties with her best friend. And, when Valentina asks her to go to church and pray for a family reunion, Lucia tells her she doesn’t see that happening ever.

Meanwhile, Emilio learns from his father that Oscar, one of his employees, is stealing money from the restaurant. When he interrogates Oscar about a missing wallet, the latter quits, saying he’s always been too loyal to be questioned about his character. Emilio loses a valuable resource, further affecting the family business.

While dressing Rafael, Valentina finds a bundle of bills stocked up in the wardrobe and decides to use it to visit Gloria and Javier in Mexico over the weekend. However, Emilio disapproves of the plan saying they can’t afford it.

Valentina is determined to reunite with her parents at any cost. Despite being one of the youngest in the family, she has exhibited her ability to make her own decisions.

Will she dismiss Emilio’s orders and still find a way to see her parents? Or, will she come to terms with the actuality and offer money to her siblings?

We can find answers to these questions once Episode 3 of ‘Party of Five’ premiers on January 22.
