The grieving parents of the UK teenager who was killed by the wife of a CIA operative while she was driving on the wrong side of the road will be flying to the US with the hope of setting up a meeting with Donald Trump to resolve the issue.

MEAWW previously reported that Harry Dunn, 19, was killed on August 27 after a Volvo SUV being driven by 42-year-old Anne Sacoolas pulled out of RAF Croughton, a US intelligence hub in Britain, on the wrong side of the road and traveled almost 400 yards before colliding with him.

Dunn suffered multiple injuries in the accident and later died at a hospital. As the police prepared to file charges of death by dangerous driving against Sacoolas with the Crown Prosecution Service, she fled the country despite previously assuring authorities that she would be cooperating with them.

Dunn's parents, Charlotte Charles and Tim Dunn, who had called for UK officials and Prime Minister Boris Johnson to intervene and pressurize the US to send Sacoolas back to face justice were rebuffed by claims that the 42-year-old has diplomatic immunity. They are now planning to fly to the US for answers, according to the Daily Mail.

They will reportedly land in New York on Sunday and will be featured on primetime slots on the country's three main television networks—ABC, NBC, and CBS—in the hope of catching the attention of Trump. They are also trying to make appearances on CNN and Fox as well.

Radd Seiger, who is representing the family, will similarly be flying from London to Washington DC for talks with US lawyers and said they are currently getting a positive response from the White House regarding the case.

"Everything that we are seeing at the moment coming from the White House is positive," he told the Mail. "Trump has indicated that he is looking for a resolution. We are pleased with what we have heard. We look forward to meeting him to put our case to him."

"We will not rest until we have Sacoolas back in the UK," he continued. "We don’t want a war, both families need to sit down and talk. The important point is that we want her to come back to the UK. That’s the only way we can get closure."

He said that the eventual outcome does not matter to them and that whether or not she is jailed depends on only the legal system. "It’s in her interest to show some remorse," he said. "We are not ruling out civil action in the States either but bringing her back to Britain is our number one priority."
