Ohio parents give teachers wine bottles with picture of son’s face for Christmas
The couple from Dayton, Ohio decided to do something special for their son's elementary school teachers this Christmas.
When school teachers get Christmas presents from the students or parents, it is generally assumed to be something nice like a mug or flowers to show their appreciation for their hard work. However, parents of a student from Ohio thought of a Christmas gift with a twist for their child's teachers: wine bottles with their son's image on them.
The couple from Dayton, Ohio decided to do something special for their son's elementary school teachers this Christmas. They purchased bottles of wine for each of the teachers and replaced the labels with pictures of their son.
The twist was the message which was written under the boy's image on the bottles: “Our child might be the reason you drink, so enjoy this bottle on us!”
The boy's mother Mary Sommers said that her kid's teachers deserved something a little more intoxicating to cope up with the stress. Their son studies at the Ascension School in Kettering, Ohio.
“How many coffee mugs does a teacher need?” Sommers asked. “But who doesn’t need a glass of wine after teaching a kid like mine?” according to AJC reports.
At least 10 of the teachers got the wine bottles, according to reports.
My parents always get our elementary school teachers a present around Christmas. Typically something small like a candle or flower to say thank you. This year they got them bottles of wine & replaced the labels with their own with my brother on them... Happy holidays pic.twitter.com/hErPgrjX44— DJ Sommers (@Sommers_DJ) December 18, 2017
Mary then came up with the idea of sending wine bottles, and things worked in her favor with the labels as her friend happens to work at a printing company.
The boy's brother, DJ Sommers, posted the images of the gift on Twitter and the post became viral on social media, with many users commenting that the gift idea was indeed funny.
Very thoughtful of those parents. I’m sure I made plenty of teachers want to have more than one. Lol— Bob Amsden (@eagle10twice) December 22, 2017
DJ's post has been liked more than 37,000 and has been retweeted nearly 6,000 times since it was shared on December 18.
The boy's brother said in his post that his parents give gifts to his brother's teachers every year, however, the gifts are usually candles or flowers.

As a teacher I can definitely appreciate this kind gesture! Merry Christmas to you and your family. And to your brother too! Lol 😂— America First (@teacherfortrump) December 21, 2017
Speaking to Buzzfeed, Mary Sommers said: "The teachers deserve the wine, that’s all I’m going to say. None of the teachers were shocked by it.”

Mary said that her son was the "school clown" and also joked that the administrators at Ascension School in Kettering are likely counting down the days until they are free of the Sommers family.
