As the documentary hits Netflix in the coming days, let’s take a look at some of the most controversial moments of her life.

Banned Ads

Anderson is known for doing stuff that was revealing and sexy. Filmmakers and producers never took her as a serious actress and always wanted to use her for her beauty, and extraordinary physique. So, it doesn’t come as a shock that she has been a part of some really raunchy advertisements and some of them got her in big trouble.

In 2009, Anderson partnered with PETA for a commercial regarding animal welfare. However, the advertisement was deemed ‘too racy’ for the airports and CNN Airport Network (via ABC News) took the decision not to show the commercial in airports because it could be seen by children. The commercial sees Anderson playing the role of an airport security guard who strips passengers of fur, leather, and other skins.

On the other hand, the actress came back to work with PETA again and saw her donning a bikini. A lot of people believed that the commercial was sexist and shouldn’t be aired. After a lot of complaints, the officials sitting in Montreal banned the ad from airing. It came as a huge surprise for many because Anderson was born there and spent a substantial part of her life in her home country.

The ‘Pam & Tommy’ Sex Tape

Pamela Anderson and Tommy Lee married in 1995 after knowing each other for just 96 hours. They were madly in love with each other, but one moment changed everything and that happened when the couple’s sex tape got leaked on the internet. The couple went on to record personal footage while they were married and Tommy locked the tape in his garage. However, a technician who had a fight with Tommy lost his mind and stole the safe that had this videotape.

The person decided to make the most of it and uploaded it on the internet, making Anderson’s life a living hell. The actress had to face a lot of tough questions and was being held responsible for everything that was happening at the time. It was one of the darkest periods of her life and still haunts her. It’s been 23 years now and people are still talking about it.

Diagnosed with Hepatitis C

Tommy Lee was not only responsible for making her life miserable because of the sex tape, but he actually gave her an actual disease as well. Yes, you heard it right. One of the most controversial and shocking moments of Anderson’s life came in 2002 when she revealed that she had contracted Hepatitis C after sharing tattoo needles with her ex-husband.

The actress received treatment for almost 13 years and got cured in 2015. In an interview with People Magazine, the ‘Baywatch’ star noted that she was scared when she got to know about the disease and was told that she “would die” in 10 years.

End of marriage because of ‘Borat’?

In 2006, Sacha Baron Cohen stunned the world with the movie ‘Borat’ and played the role of a Kazakh journalist who travels through the United States to make a documentary that features real-life interactions with the people of America. The movie also featured Pamela Anderson in a major role and was the reason for the journalist’s cross-country journey. The actress appeared in a scene that involved her being kidnapped.

Reports reveal that Kid Cudi, who was Anderson’s husband at the time, felt really angry and had an argument with the actress because of that particular scene. As per Page Six (via CBS News), Cudi screamed at Anderson after a private screening and started shouting at her for doing such a movie. However, things got so bad that the couple divorced each other because of the movie.

The news was confirmed by Cohen in an interview given to The Daily Beast who said that he messaged Anderson after the screening to know about her husband’s reaction to the film. However, Anderson admitted in her replies that the couple was getting divorced and when Cohen asked the reason, the actress simply said “the movie.”

“I thought it was a joke but then a few weeks later they got divorced and they put as a reason for divorce, Borat,” he said during the interview.

Controversial comments on Feminism

Anderson faced criticism for victim-blaming some of Harvey Weinstein’s accusers and apologized for making things worse for women who have faced abuse in their lives. However, she made things even worse by making comments that criticized a certain section of feminists and called feminism “boring.” While speaking in an interview with 60 minutes, Anderson that the “third wave” of feminism was a “bore” and paralyzed the men completely. She added, “I think that this Me Too movement is a bit too much for me. I'm sorry, I'm not politically correct, maybe.”

The entire social media went berserk after her comments and slammed the actress for having such an outdated way of thinking.

When will ‘Pamela, a Love Story’ premiere on Netflix?

The documentary revolving around Anderson’s life will be premiering exclusively on Netflix on January 31.
