Owen Wilson's casting in Disney+'s 'Loki' series sends fans into a frenzy of speculation over his unnamed part
There is really only one appropriate reaction to first hearing that Owen Wilson will be joining the MCU: "Wow."
The 'Wedding Crashers' star has reportedly been cast in the Marvel 'Loki' series set to release in the spring of 2021 on Disney+. According to ComicBook.com, Wilson has been cast in a major role, although what that role will be, for the the time being, has been kept secret.
Besides the many jokes making fun of Wilson's distinct and often used "Wow," fans have been making wild stabs in the dark as to who Owen Wilson could be cast to play.
"Owen Wilson is gonna be in the MCU. Everyone has their guesses but mine are Hercules, or Wonder Man, in that order." said one fan, on Twitter. "What if Owen Wilson was playing Young Odin?" said another Twitter user, playing off the concept that the series will feature time travel. Another fan felt that an old 'Guardians of the Galaxy 2' Easter Egg should be brought back into the spotlight, bringing Adam Warlock to the big screen - or, as they call it, "Adam Wowlock."
Others continue to explore the cosmic side of things, with one fan hoping that Wilson could play Richard Ryder/Nova, and introduce a major Marvel space event to the MCU. "I hope Owen Wilson is Nova!!! Can you imagine a world with Chris Pratt/Starlord and Owen Wilson/Richard Ryder!!!!! Annihilation here we go!!!"
Some guesses, of course, are just wildly ridiculous. "Owen Wilson better be playing Frog Thor in the Loki show," wrote one fan, referring to the talking, mini-Mjolnir wiedling superhero known as Throg. Another fan wrote, "Spoiler alert, Owen Wilson is the new Loki" while one fan just hopes that Wilson gets to be himself. Literally. "I really hope Owen Wilson was casted as Owen Wilson" they wrote.
'Loki' is set to air on Disney+ in the spring of 2021.
