After two episodes in the Carolina wilderness, Jamie Frazer (Sam Heughan) will lead his men into Hillsborough that is roiling in tension. As the trailer shows, the ordinary townsfolk are on the Regulators side, telling Jamie that the "Red Coats" were benefiting from their hospitality while oppressing them. They look like they know exactly where the Regulators are hiding out so Jamie asks, "where are they?"

The Red Coats are soldiers from Governor Tryon's (Tim Downie) garrison which has set up base in the town. As they drink in the local bar and get ready for battle, they set their sights on Murtagh Fitzgibbon (Duncan Lacroix), one of the prominent leaders of the Regulators, and whose 'Wanted' poster in the bar is used as a dart target practice by the soldiers.

Will Jamie be able to protect his godfather Murtagh while not revealing their ties to Governor Tryon or his men? According to the episode synopsis released by Starz, Jamie will be "forced to take drastic action when his relationship to Murtagh is at risk of coming to light". The synopsis also reveals that Governor Tryon will "propose a rather unorthodox solution to deal with the threat posed by the Regulators and to resolve the growing political crisis".

Back in the Frazer homestead on the Ridge, Roger Mackenzie (Richard Rankin) finds the gem that Stephen Bonnet (Ed Speleers) had given to Brianna when she told him of her pregnancy while he was still in prison. Even though Brianna had not told Roger about this, he immediately knows it is Bonnet's gem. We can also expect Brianna to tell him about the other "gift" that an unknown Irish man, she suspects is Bonnet, had left in baby Jemmy's crib in last week's episode. Having Roger in the know will be a good thing for Brianna who had a panic attack about this when Roger was away. Brianna is right to worry about Bonnet dropping by because we have also seen how Stephen Bonnet, now that he is a free man, is already thinking about his legacy as a "father".

Claire will also be back at her little clinic teaching Marsali how to assist her during operations. The trailer shows how Claire is training Marsali to practice medicine like her and act as a nurse to her doctor. She tells her that practicing medicine also means risking fatalities -- especially since Claire seems to now be trying to use her surgical skills which comes with invasive and aggressive treatment procedures. She is also shown operating on Keziah's tonsillitis with Marsali assisting her as Josiah looks on concerned.

According to the synopsis, we will also have Claire recalling an episode from her past that led her back to Jamie.

'Outlander' airs on Sunday at 8:00 pm ET/PT on STARZ, the STARZ app, and STARZ On Demand.
