'One World: Together At Home': Viewers blast Trump, say the concert did more for Americans than he ever did
The world is in a state of gloomy lockdown due to the relentless coronavirus pandemic, but you can always rely on our celebrities to bring us some cheer. And so, you can imagine the unmitigated joy when fans around the world were treated to a grand online music concert on Saturday night, April 18.
Hundreds of celebrities and special musical guests all turned up for a night to remember. It was all for a good cause too — the online concert was curated by Lady Gaga in collaboration with Global Citizen and WHO as a thank you to health care professionals who had been relentlessly battling the COVID-19 crisis on the frontlines.
While most were thankful for this spurt of joy and color in their lives today, others noted that the celebrities did more than what President Donald Trump did during the coronavirus pandemic. And so, many fans took to social media and expressed their views about this.
One fan tweeted to Trump saying, "IGNORANT FOOL! The world is watching 'One World: Together at Home' and of course you or your administration isn't part of this. But of course, the world knows why, because it isn't about YOU; it is about ALL OF US! You LOW LIFE FOOL. You and your distractions don't work anymore."
Another fan wrote to Trump, "As I watch ONE WORLD TOGETHER AT HOME, it makes me feel good 2 know that there R still decent people in this world that care about one another. Unlike U, who has done nothing 2 improve the lives of Americans. The way you’ve handled this coronavirus crisis will end your presidency."
A fan sarcastically wrote to Trump, "Hey Donnie didn't see you on the 'One World: Together At Home' broadcast all over the world! Oh, that's right you defunded WHO & really don't care about us."
"@realDonaldTrumpI have a feeling your decision to hold money back from WHO is going to be awfully unpopular after the wonderful 'One World Together at Home' show appeared on all networks on Saturday night! Talk about a horrible decision at this particular point in time," a fan tweeted.
"One World: Together at Home. Are you watching? You might learn something like having a heart," another fan wrote.
One fan hoped that the President would feel some sort of remorse on watching the concert. "I love the fact that One World Together at Home is a not so subtle jab at Trump. Every time they talk about the great work the WHO does, I hope trump feels a twinge of regret," wrote the fan.
The spectacular night succeeded in raising millions of dollars for charity during the six-hour-long pre-concert live coverage itself.
Stephen Colbert, who hosted the event along with fellow talk show hosts Jimmy Kimmel and Jimmy Fallon, mentioned that they had already raised over 50 million dollars when the main live musical broadcast.
