She, however, said she could not be Sanders' Vice President because she is too young for the position. Both President and Vice President in the US must be 35 years, but AOC is 30

Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, on December 23, said that it "would be an honor" to serve as Vice President in a Bernie Sanders administration if he wins the 2020 elections. The New York Representative, who was elected to the House of Representatives last November, admitted to the prospect during a sit-down interview with Noticias Telemundo.

Ocasio-Cortez, however, said that she could not be Sanders' Vice President because she is too young for the position. Both the President and Vice President in the United States must be 35 years and above, and AOC is currently 30.

The Democrat socialist, who has endorsed Sanders for president, had spoken with the Vermont senator multiple times during his campaign stops over the past month. The Congresswoman, while talking to the outlet, said that campaigning for Sanders back in 2016 had launched her own race for Congress.

"I was a community organizer in the Bronx for Senator Sanders during the last presidential campaign. That was my first experience, organizing right there in the street for an election," she said.

AOC also gave a keynote address at Sanders' Spanish-language town hall in Las Vegas on December 23. She had taken to Twitter before the event, saying she was "nervous" as she does not speak the language frequently despite having a Puerto Rican mother.

"If we are first or second generation, it is important that we cultivate our language. I must speak and practice more to improve my own Spanish. Our language is the link with our families and our communities," she told the outlet.

"I think we have good candidates in the primary, but I think that we have to support whoever wins the ticket, because we need to get this president out of the Oval Office," she said. AOC also accused Trump of being both "racist" and "afraid of Latina women" during the interview.

"He's a racist and he's anti-immigrants, but more than that, his administration is very corrupt," she added. "I think he has a track record of – I think he's afraid of women, of strong women, of Latina women. It's very antithetic, his values."
