To make the best out of the least ideal situation of the growing fear over the novel coronavirus, a couple of friends from New Jersey decided to throw a COVID-19 themed bash. What made an already different party more edgy was the group’s choice to clad themselves in hazmat suits and serve Corona beer, reports New York Post.

Talking about the party, Alexandra from Jersey city said, “We love to have fun with the themes”. She also explained how the group took a “lighthearted” approach towards the new coronavirus which the entire globe is dreading.

Alexandra, who is an environmental worker, and her husband invited eight of their neighbors to the party with a specific dress code. Their friends entered the caution-taped door with shoe covers and face masks on. Alexandra said how they were all “dressed up in hazmat suits, gloves and glasses” and played a board game called Pandemic, which involves fighting against the deadly virus to save the globe.

The party saw the guests relishing “coronavirus cupcakes”, “Quarantini” punch and a stew called ‘Case-O”, named after the first person to be diagnosed with the deadly disease. When told they might be faced with criticism for holding celebrations amidst an outbreak, Alexandra responded, “We only did it to have a good time. It was lighthearted.”

Meanwhile, Instagram has also jangled quite a few nerves by introducing coronavirus themed filters, which have been deemed “inappropriate” considering the ongoing health crisis. “@instagram has just released a new filter: ‘Coronavirus Analysis’ whether or not you’re infected... we’re talking about something that is currently killing people!! Completely inappropriate,” wrote an enraged twitter user.

Coronavirus has already claimed 5000 lives across the globe with around 150,000 infected cases. The World Health Organization, on Wednesday, declared it a pandemic.

Meanwhile, a national emergency was declared in the US in the wake of the growing health crisis after over 2100 cases were reported across the 49 states.
