'Yankees v Red Sox': Gerrit Cole 'worth $324M', fans praise pitcher after his stellar performance against Boston
The New York Yankees were always the favorites going into the game against the Boston Red Sox. At the time of writing, they were leading 8-3 in Bot 8 on Friday, and the star was pitcher Gerrit Cole with an impeccable performance. His numbers for the day read: 7 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 0 BB, 8 K’s that had the Yankees fans celebrating. The Pittsburgh Pirates and Houston Astros man saw New York investing $324 million in him, the largest contract in major league history for a pitcher, and from the looks of it, he most definitely didn't disappoint.
Twitter users were lavish in their praise of the pitcher. Here's a look at some of the tweets during the game:
"My god, is this what it feels like to have an Ace? Gerrit Cole is nasty," commented one of the fans who seemed to be mighty impresses with Cole's outing.

One of the fans just couldn't stop looking at the numbers. "What a start for Gerrit Cole, his best start as Yankee so far. 7 IP | 4 H | 1 R/ER | 0 BB | 8 K He’s been everything the Yankees could’ve asked for"

And a bit of opinion from this fan: "Even without Aaron Judge in the lineup, the Yankees are puttin the hurt on the Redsucks. 8-1 heading into the 8th inning. Gerrit Cole pitched a solid 7 innings: 1 ER (on a HR), 8 Ks, 0 BB. He’s living up to everything Yankee fans expected & that’s always a tall order"

This one's was not a tweet we saw coming. But it did. Oh well, after that performance, it's okay to fall in love:"I am a straight man who is in love with New York Yankees starting pitcher Gerrit Cole"

Here's a bit of trivia by Baseball reporter, Marly Rivera as we sum up: "If the Yankees hold on to the lead (8-3, Bot 8) this will be Gerrit Cole's 20th consecutive win (4-0 on the season). It would expand his career-long 19-game winning streak (since May 27, 2019); Cole would be 20-0 with a 1.94 ERA"
