Donald Trump might win a second term as president, says new poll by Lord Ashcroft

The research by ex-Tory deputy chairman found Trump's core supporters are still with him, and Democratic attempt to find a more progressive candidate will alienate the moderates

The two years of President Donald Trump's reign in the Oval Office has been punctuated by controversy after controversy, including high turnover rates in numerous cabinet positions, as well as continued allegations that his campaign knowingly colluded and conspired with Russia to win the 2016 election.

However, a recent poll reveals that the billionaire mogul retains his popularity amongst his core supporters and that he might end up winning a successive term during the next elections.

According to the Daily Mail, this was the conclusion made by polling expert and ex-Tory Party deputy chairman Lord Ashcroft whose research paper 'Half-Time! American public opinion midway through Trump’s (first?) term – and the race to 2020' includes surveys of 15,000 Americans since November's mid-term elections that saw the Democrats seize control of the House once again.
