About 42 percent of young Americans and 19 percent of Republicans would vouch for a socialist presidential candidate, a new study has revealed. This will keep the Bernie Sanders campaign for the 2020 battle interesting.

The study results, unveiled by Rasmussen Reports, said 42 percent of people aged between 18 and 39 would back a socialist presidential candidate. It has also found that the younger generation is twice as likely to think that socialism is better than capitalism. And even if low overall, 19 percent of Republican voters would also prefer a socialist president. The number is as high as 41 percent in the Democratic camp.

“Forty-one percent (41%) of Democrats say they would vote for a presidential candidate who identifies himself or herself as a socialist, but only 19% of GOP voters and 16% of unaffiliateds agree,” the poll added.

June poll showed 55% of US women aged 18-54 backs socialism

That socialism is having a renewed appeal among the American people also became evident when the Harris poll for “Axios on HBO” in June this year said 55 percent of women aged between 18 and 54 were in favor of residing in a socialist country instead of a capitalist one.

Earlier to that, a Gallup poll in May showed that 47 percent of Americans would vote for socialist presidential candidate as a whole. The Democratic camp saw that number going up even higher: 70 percent. The Democrats' trust in socialism over capitalism has been increasing over some years now, said another Gallup poll in August.

These findings will not make the conservative circles happy, especially President Donald Trump who has trashed socialism a number of times in his term. He even dubbed centrist Democrats before the 2018 midterm polls as “dead”.

“The new Democrats are radical socialists who want to model America’s economy after Venezuela,” he even warned voters.

Recently, Trump’s eldest son Donald Trump Junior also came out with a book titled ‘Triggered’ in which he repudiated the left saying it was always busy targeting the conservatives with the aim of removing them from public square.
