'We Can Be Heroes' is an upcoming PG 13 movie that is a sequel to 'The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl in 3-D'. The film picks up years after Sharkboy and Lavagirl get married and it centers on the next generation of heroes. So one of the main characters in the film happens to be Sharkboy and Lavagirl's daughter Guppy. The sequel is slated to release 15 years since the first film released and that made us wonder, where are the actors who played Sharkboy and Lavagirl in the 2005 film?

Taylor Lautner as Shark Boy

Actor Taylor Lautner who played the role of young Shark Boy in the film 'The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl in 3-D' has since appeared in various roles, however, his last acting role in a film happened to be in 'Run the Tide' in 2016. This film, unfortunately, happened to be a critical and commercial failure. He is most famous for playing the role of Jacob Black in 'The Twilight Saga' which is a film adaptation of Stephanie Meyer's popular novel series of the same name. However, Lautner last appeared in the BBC sitcom 'Cuckoo' between 2014 and 2018 in which he played the role of the titular character's son, and in the FOX black comedy series titled 'Scream Queens' that came out in 2016, where he played the role of Dr. Cassidy Cascade. After transforming his body to keep his role as Jacob Black in the later installments of the film, he ended up getting featured in a number of top hottest man lists and was also named 'the highest-paid teenage actor in Hollywood.' He was also said to be dating Taylor Swift in 2010 when their film 'Valentine's Day' had released. However, at the moment, the actor has not been seen on screen -- either in movies, web series, or TV shows.

It is reported that things began to go south for the actor after his film 'Abduction' bombed at the box office and was panned by the critics as well. 'The Twilight Saga' came to an end in 2012 and in addition to this, two of the projects that he was expected to be seen in -- 'Stretch Armstrong' and 'David and Goliath' -- were also shelved. He appeared in a string of films that failed one after another including 'The Ridiculous 6' alongside Adam Sandler. Speaking to Reuters about this, Lautner said, "For me the biggest thing is just surrounding myself with people that I love, just spending time, it doesn't matter what I'm doing as long as I'm with my friends and my family. You know, I could be sitting in a cardboard box and that's where I'm happiest." At the moment, the actor's Instagram handle is populated with posts with his girlfriend, family, and friends.

Taylor Dooley as Lavagirl

Taylor Dooley has reprised her role as the Lavagirl in the movie 'We Can Be Heroes' which is a sequel to 'The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl in 3-D'. The film that picks up years after Sharkboy and Lavagirl get married sees Dooley play the role of young hero Guppy's mother. Since her work in 'The Adventures of Sharkboy and Lavagirl in 3-D', Dooley hasn't been seen in a lead role. She did appear as a guest star in one of the 'House' episodes in 2008, but that has been about it. However, since she began to work on 'We Can Be Heroes' she has been active on Twitter and has posted quite a few updates about shooting with her co-stars for the film.

'We Can Be Heroes' is slated to release on Netflix on December 25.
