Netflix's 'Chilling Adventures of Sabrina' teases season 3 with campy pop music video: What to expect
Netflix released a bouncy, music video parody to tease season 3 of 'The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina' with Sabrina (Kiernan Shipka) as a pop princess. She sings a song about “When it comes to love, I’m going straight to hell” while other characters appear like her warlock boyfriend, Nick Scratch ( Gavin Leatherwood), who turns up shirtless and in gold chains, playing up the camp element.
At the end of season 2, we saw Sabrina deciding to breach the gates of hell to rescue Nick Scratch who is serving as the bodily prison for the Devil, trapped within him. The music video treatment is a contrast to the usual dark-toned, mysterious feel of the actual show.
But the premise works since the video ends with Sabrina waking up in bed, sweat on her brow, puzzled about the nightmare/dream she just had. The music video also has scenes from the actual show giving us a few key hints of what to expect in season 3.
Nick is shown chained and trembling in an underground dungeon and in another, he is shown to be inside an occult circle with a red cloth covering. It also shows Sabrina's first love, Harvey Kinkle, and her other mortal friends, Rosalind 'Roz' Walker and Theo, walking in a foggy field lined with crucified bodies with Theo finding someone they know.
Elsewhere, Ambrose and Prudence are practicing blood magic presumably to hunt down Father Blackwood, while Zelda becomes the interim leader of the Church of Night. We also can't forget Madam Satan/Lilith who becomes the Queen of Hell. The video features her with a crown on a throne presiding over Hell's court and its denizens.
Netflix also released a poster for the show that feel like Sabrina is channeling the other famous blonde badass and cheerleader, Buffy the Vampire Slayer. This season will see a new character on the show called Prince Caliban played by Sam Corlett. Not much is known about the character except for the fact that he is royalty in Hell and an antagonist, who Sabrina punches in the video.
There will also be a clash between good and bad witches dressed in coordinated black and white ceremonial outfits with Hilda (Lucy Davis), Zelda (Miranda Otto) and Sabrina leading the "good" witches. It also shows Sabrina with a black crown on her head and on the throne which means that Satan might still have her way with her.
'Chilling Adventures of Sabrina' premieres on Netflix January 24.
