'Indian Matchmaking': Release date, format, cast and all you need to know about the Netflix dating show

Netflix's upcoming show 'Indian Matchmaking' follows matchmaker Sima Taparia who will help singles find their perfect match

Following the smashing success of unscripted dating shows like 'Dating Around', 'Love is Blind', 'Too Hot to Handle', Netflix decided to launch another show to its kitty. The newest addition is a show based on the concept of arranged marriages which is rampant among South Asian communities. 'Indian Matchmaking' will throw light on how this traditional custom is practiced in the modern era.

Release date

'Indian Matchmaking' is all set to premiere on July 16. You can catch all the eight episodes on Netflix. 

Format

They say marriages are made in heaven, but in Indian communities, a matchmaker plays an equally crucial role. The show follows elite matchmaker Sima Taparia. Taparia caters to her high-end clientele across the globe, who are looking to help their children find their partner outside of the dating apps and matrimonial websites. In the eight-part series, we will see singles go on first dates with their families and decide if their date can be their future spouse. Netflix describes the show as, "Matchmaker Sima Taparia guides clients in the U.S. and India in the arranged marriage process, offering an inside look at the custom in a modern era."

Cast

The show will feature famous matchmaker Sima Taparia. Taparia hails from a wealthy business tycoon's family, who specializes in forming marriage alliances. Her clients are spread across the globe, from Mumbai, India to Texas, USA. The details of the singles and the families who will be featured on the show hasn't been disclosed yet.
