Over the years, NBC's hit singing competition show, 'The Voice', has come under intense criticism for favoring country music participants over contestants who performed other genres. In a span of 19 seasons, the fact that Blake Shelton, a leading country musician/ coach on the show won the competition seven times, proves how much the audience of the show seems to love country music.

Things haven't changed much during Season 19 either. For Season 19, out of the top five finalists, two of them hail from Team Blake and dabble in country music, while the remaining three contestants switch between opera, jazz and pop. Carter Rubin from Team Gwen has managed to capture the audience's hearts with his beautiful vocals. Aged 15, Carter has managed to blow away some of the biggest names in music industry with his talent. This young performer's confidence and growth has made him an instant fan-favorite and also a front-runner for winning the season.

Aside from his impressive vocals, the strong bond that he shares with his coach Gwen Stefani, and his emotional backstory, make him a compelling choice for the winner of the season. Since Day 1, Carter has been very vocal about his family and spoke extensively about his brother who's on the autism spectrum/ Carter has used his platform beautifully to create awareness about autism while also showcasing his talents. While several fans seem hell-bent on making Carter the first youngest winner of 'The Voice', we believe that his fellow contestant Desz too deserves some recognition, and should be considered strongly for the title of winner.

Just like Carter, Desz's vocals have time and again left the coaches speechless. This 30-year-old Texas native managed to impress coaches since day 1, as she was one of the very few contestants to get a four-chair turn from the coaches during the blind auditions. Ever since then she has delivered exceptional performance in every round. During the finales too Desz's cover and original composition, both were very well received by fans. While Carter's cover of Miley Cyrus's 'Climb' didn't impress several fans. Despite a slip-up on Carter's part, fans are convinced that this youngster might be crowned the winner of the season.

Fans pointed to the show's history of not having any Black women as winners despite their exceptional performances, which has fans convinced that Desz will be passed on for Carter, despite her consistent exceptional performance. A fan tweeted, "I would love to see Desz win instead of course but considering this show has a history of doing black women DIRTY im not even gonna get my hopes too high.. i still really like Carter though so def won't be mad if he wins  #TheVoice #VoiceFinale." "Clearly Desz should win #thevoice but we all know she won’t. Just saying," wrote a fan. Another fan expressed, "Desz deserves to win this competition. That voice is OUTRAGEOUS. But I just know she won’t win because America is trash and trash at voting competitions. #TheVoice."
