'The Voice': Bailey Rae gets wild card entry over Payge Turner, disappointed fans say they 'lost a real artist'

The live rounds have begun on 'The Voice', and the competition is getting fiercer by the minute. The remaining 17 contestants are now fighting to secure a spot in the Top 9. Alongside impressing their coaches, the contestants will also have to woo the audience with their vocal skills. Four of the nine contestants were chosen via the audience poll, while the other four contestants were picked by the coaches. For the final spot in the Top 9, the remaining contestants had to perform in an instant save round, and the audience would vote for one of them as the wild card entry.

The four contestants who were competing for a spot on top 9 in the instant save round were Payge Turner, Sid Kinglsey, Bailey Rae and Worth the Wait. All of them gave a spectacular performance. While Worth the Wait, Bailey and Sid stuck to the country music genre, Payge decided to perform to  'Diamonds', a pop track. Following their performances, it was time for the audience to vote for their favorite contestant for a wild card entry into the Top 9. 

Surprisingly, Bailey got the maximum votes and managed to win a spot on the next round. While Bailey and her coach John Legend were over the moon with their victory, fans however didn't share the same feeling. Several fans felt that Payge Turner was 'robbed', and it should have been her instead. A fan tweeted, "I turned this episode of #TheVoice on for like 5 minutes and i’m dumbfounded. Bailey over Payge? like tf??" Another fan wrote, "BAILEY?!?! YAL ARE ON CRACKKKK!!! I’m so sorry @turner_payge you were ROBBED #TheVoice." "Feel so bad for Payge and Gwen. The Voice demographic with their obsession on (white male) mediocre country singers is ruining the show for everyone. #TheVoice," commented a fan.

Fans were also furious with Gwen Stefani for not picking Payge as her choice of contestant to be sent to the Top 9. A fan shared, "#TheVoice @gwenstefani thanks a million for making sure that we got one more country singer and lost a real artist in @turner_payge." "I was Team Gwen, but since @turner_payge was undeniably robbed, I’m now Team Kelly. #TheVoice lost a good one, but Payge you gained a fan in me.." expressed an annoyed fan."I am so sick of country music just because of #TheVoice. There is more to music than country America! Wake up! You just voted off an incredibly talented woman AGAIN. You deserve better @turner_payge. Completely robbed. Following to show support but totally pissed off," declared a fan.

The Voice' Season 19 airs every Monday and Tuesday at 8/7c only on NBC.
