NBC's New Year’s Eve 2020: X Ambassadors disappoint with a repeat performance, fans call it 'lame and boring'

Going by Twitter reactions, it is clear that X Ambassadors' appearance on the stage was looked forward to the most by fans

'NBC's New Year's Eve 2020' was telecast live from Times Square in NYC. 'The Voice' and 'Today Show' presenter Carson Daly returned as the host for the television special this year with Julianne Hough and 'The Ellen DeGeneres Show' DJ Stephen "tWitch" boss serving as the co-hosts.

Ever since the network announced the holiday special, viewers from across the globe have been thrilled about watching some of the biggest names in the music industry highlight the evening.

The line up for 'NBC's New Year's Eve 2020’ included performances from X Ambassadors, Brett Eldredge, Julianne Hough, NE-YO, Leslie Odom Jr, Blake Shelton, Gwen Stefani and The Struts. 

Although fans were delighted to watch Gwen Stefani grace the stage with her breathtaking performance for 'Sweet Escape', going by Twitter reactions, it is clear that X Ambassadors' appearance on the stage was looked forward to the most. 

The American rock band performed their original 'Renegades' and it didn't go down that well with the fans. It wasn’t the choice of the song, but the repetitiveness that disappointed their fans. 

A fan noted, "Maybe its nostalgia, but I feel like NYE shows used to be better. Now it's just prerecorded sessions and talk show filler. I've seen a WWE match, a performance that NBC didn't use for the tree lighting, & X Ambassadors playing the same song on 2 different networks an hour apart."

"I love how we just watched @XAmbassadors on Fox and an hour later, same performance on @NBC #happynewyear2020," wrote another. 

And, a few of them couldn't help but talk about a few glitches they observed during X Ambassadors' performance. 

"How'd that guy stop playing his guitar and yet the guitar tone in the mix didn't change? #xambassadors #NBCNYE," asked a Twitter user. 

Meanwhile, another disappointed fan lamented, "@XAmbassadors renegades song was so freaking lame and boring i got up and washed dishes. Worst 4 minutes of listening in 2019. #NewYearsEve #TueYearsEve."
