NBA 2020 Season Returns: Is Miami Heat's Duncan Robinson the greatest shooter after his scrimmage with Kings?
Duncan Robinson as Miami Heat's shooting guard is bang in the middle of a heated online debate: Is he the greatest shooter or the greatest NBA player?
While the 22 teams gear up to get back to action on the court again, one of the tweets by Five Stars Sports Network read: "I asked Duncan Robinson this week how long it would take to get his jumper to pre-Covid form. 'Shooters don’t forget how to shoot.' He has 4 3's in 7 minutes." And while this may have stirred a debate, there clearly seems to be a confirmation that Robinson has been one of the best shooters the game has witnessed in recent times.
His rise to fame has been purely due to the scintillating performances he has put in. The 2018-19 season with the Heat was pretty average where he shot 28.1 percent from a three-point range, however, this season, the shooting forward has been dunking a whopping 44.8. He's been the player behind Miami's success this season and much of it comes from the accurate shooting. Twitterati did agree with the comment as they hailed Robinson as "the best shooter."
"Swear to god this guy can't miss," read one of the tweets. And that was true as he just couldn't seem to miss. The opening intrasquad scrimmage against Sacramento Kings saw Robinson lead the way with 12 points and according to some stats dished out by Fansided, he has made "47.7 percent of his last 202 3-pointers, a span of just 20 games." For many, Robinson was meant to be a no-show after battling injury, suspension, and having his name juggled up and down the roster.
However, it does look like Heat gave him a chance which he lapped up and produced a sterling 2019-20 season for Miami Heat. The shooting forward has already set franchise records for the volume of 3-point shots made in a quarter and in a half and tied the franchise record for three-point shots made in a game. And there were comparisons already. "It's ok to admit he's a better shooter than Curry," a fan commented on Twitter while catching the game on tape. By the looks of how he's going about with his game, it is safe to say, Robinson, who has already made his mark as a great shooter is well on his way to becoming one of the GOATs in NBA.
It was a good start for the Heat as a fan summed up their performance: "And that’s a wrap on the first Miami Heat @MiamiHEAT Scrimmage with a win against the Sacramento Kings 98-104. Overall It wasn’t a perfect game but there were moments like the assists of Jae Crowder to Butler and the Hot start to Duncan Robinson. Overall a decent performance."
Safe to say much of that win has to be attributed to Robinson as he continued his red hot streak. With his meteoric rise for the Heat, it is only a matter of time before he joins the legends of the game.
