'Nancy Drew' latest teaser clip will give you the chills even as fans of the sleuth remain conflicted over series

'Nancy Drew' is coming to The CW on October 9, 2019. But before the show comes to our television screens, the network is releasing short clips to get audiences acclimatized to the spooky world that Nancy Drew lives in.
The CW production that stars Kennedy McMann in the titular role is the third 'Nancy Drew' television series after 'The Hardy Boys/ Nancy Drew Mysteries' and a 1995 Canadian-American version.
According to the official synopsis, 'Nancy Drew', "devastated by her mother's passing away, swears off crime-solving while crossing off the days until she can re-apply to college. But when a socialite is murdered, Nancy finds herself the prime suspect in the crime. Along with a group of other teens present at the scene. The five must team up to clear their own names - encountering emotional entanglements and even more mysteries along the way. Whether the ghost is here to help or hinder Nancy remains to be seen, but one thing's for sure: Nancy's going to have to unravel the clues from both the living and dead to solve the crimes."
The 'Hidden Staircase' teaser shows Nancy climbing an old, tattered staircase. Atop this staircase is a mystery woman - is she a ghost? - in a flowing white gown. There are cuts that show the woman (or ghost) jump off a cliff. However, from other videos posted by the channel, we can make that the mystery woman carries a big bloody blotch on her abdomen indicating that she was murdered.
From the looks of the clips, The CW has packed supernatural mystery to a thriller. While there are some who don't mind giving the paranormal twist a chance, fans of the sleuth are upset that the network would choose to add elements to a character and universe that is already self-sufficient.
"I honestly don't understand why did they include hints of supernatural in it unless, of course, it's a cult or it's just fake supernatural," said one.
There are others who do not like the similarities the upcoming show shares with The CW's (rather notorious yet wildly popular) teen drama 'Riverdale.'
"Thinking of how The CW is about to ruin the Nancy Drew series by sexualizing Nancy’s character and make horrible dialogues and plot holes like they did for Riverdale," pointed out a viewer.
"Personally, I don’t want to ever think about Nancy Drew having sex or whatever The CW is gonna do, but my main concern is that they’re probably not even going to make it a good mystery," said one.
'Nancy Drew' will premiere on Wednesday, October 9, 2019, at 9/8c on The CW.
