Xan Callihan loves playing drums and hopes to follow his passion as a career option. Unfortunately, one thing that is not taking his side is his foot. He has been experiencing pain in his foot for a long time and they have been a hindrance for him when it comes to practicing drumming.

Xan started experiencing this problem when he was 16. Xan got into an accident and fractured his foot after which he got a plaster. It is after this that things took turn for the worse. When his foot was in plaster, it grew in size and the bones did not shape up the way it should have.

Once the plaster was removed, there was nothing he could do about it and Xan decided to live with it. To make sure his foot does not cause him any more problems, Xan decided to meet Dr Ebonie Vincent.

Once Dr Vincent examined his foot, she realized that the big toe had a condition called Mallet Toe, a condition in which the bone tends to grow downwards. Dr Vincent explained that his first and second toe was hammertoe and it happened because of his mallet condition.

She further explained that since the big toe was facing downwards and reaching out to the ground for support, the other toes were also following it and bending backward which were ultimately causing him the pain that he always complained about. She suggested him to undergo a surgery that would allow her to shape the bones perfectly.

Xan was worried that he would not be able to play the drums anymore. However, Dr Vincent informed him that she would be inserting a screw between his joints that would allow it to grow properly and even though it will take nearly a year to heal completely, she assured him it was a risk that he should take.

Xan was worried but agreed as he wanted to live a life that would go on without feeling pain on his foot. Once in surgery, the first thing that Dr Vincent wanted to do was insert a screw through his big toe to make sure that his joints can grow properly.

She then used K-wire for her hammertoes to make sure that the joints grow properly and eventually become straight. Dr Vincent was happy with the surgery and was certain that the outcome would be positive.

She gave Xan six weeks for everything to heal. After spending time away, Xan returned to meet Dr Vincent and was happy to see how his foot looked. He was pleased to see that his toes were straight and he was looking forward to going back to drumming.

'My Feet Are Killing Me' airs on Thursdays at 10 pm ET on TLC.
