‘My 600-lb Life’: Yasmin feels guilty she 'enabled' Travis's weight gain, says she can't help giving him food
Travis has been having a hard time dealing with his daily routine ever since he started gaining weight. However, one thing that is getting affected the most is his relationship with his wife, Yasmin. Yasmin and Travis met at church. Travis was 26 at that time and in a condition where he could make it to church. Yasmin was in the choir and the two got talking when they met there.
The two started dating and just six months after they started dating, Travis decided to ask Yasmin to marry him and she said yes. Travis weighed approximately 500lbs then, Despite this, Yasmin was happy to be his wife. However, as the days went by Travis's relationship with food began to dominate as he began putting on weight.
In the middle of all of this, Yasmin is worried that she is the reason why Travis has reached such a point. Yasmin confessed that she felt guilty as she feels she is the one who enabled Travis's weight. She revealed that she is the one who makes food for him and fills his plate. Yasmin added that she is aware that it isn't healthy but she can't stop herself from giving him the food.
She further added that it hurts her to see that Travis is slowly killing himself as she is watching his body break in front of her eyes. While the weight is affecting their relationship, Travis is aware that the marriage is slowly crumbling down because of his weight. His weight has now begun to be a cause of shame for him.
The pair met Dr Younan Nowzaradan and he also agreed that Yasmin was the enabler as she was the one putting food on his plate. Yasmin revealed that Travis does not listen if she gives him less food and it often leads to them arguing. In order to avoid a fight, Yasmin agreed that she gives in to whatever he says. However, the two decide to work on weight loss together and turn their life around.
