Angie James, whose full name is Angela Marie Dunham-John, appeared in Season 7 Episode 19 of the show and quickly became one of the most hated patients on the show. Weighing 643 lbs, Angie was dependent on her husband, Justin and her daughter, Desiree. One thing that set people off was the way Angie spoke to Justin and Desiree. Fans often thought she was disrespectful towards the people who were taking care of her while they also criticized her behavior of not being thankful for the help she was getting. Angie's food addiction stemmed from her experience and how she had been treated while growing up.

Angie was raped at the age of 13 and had become pregnant, as reported by Heavy. She delivered her child but gave it up for adoption as she wasn't in a position to raise a child. Shockingly, Angie stated that she saw her rapist as her "first relationship" because of the bond they shared. To add to this, Angie never shared a good relationship with her mother who was a drug addict. Even when Angie opened up about being molested, her mother brushed off the conversation and decided to slid it under the rug. Failing to experience care and love, Angie turned to food.

As she started using food as a coping mechanism, Angie kept piling on the pounds. After spending years battling with her increasing weight, Angie finally decided to take matters in her hand. She made an appointment with Dr Younan Nowzaradan in the hopes that he could help her out. For anyone who has seen the show, it was no surprise that Dr Nowzaradan asked Angie to stick to her diet if she wanted to lose weight. Even though Angie was certain that she was not cheating with her meals, Dr Nowzaradan did not believe her because her weight did not reduce. After a couple of sessions with her, Dr Nowzaradan realized that Angie had been taking drugs.

While she denied these claims, her lie was caught when she had to undergo a drug test. As the show came to an end, Angie's progress did not get any better. Having lost a total of 48lbs in one year, Dr Nowzaradan did not approve of her for the weight loss journey. However, some people thought that she might have been approved for surgery after she quit the show because of a GoFundMe page that she organized.

The page hinted that she had lost the weight but required money to stay in Houston. Unfortunately, there has been no new update on how Angie has been doing or how much weight she has lost.
