Valentine's day is just around the corner, and you know what the world needs? A list of realistic movies. I don't know about you but I can't stand the droves of lists that give you a countdown of the best romance/romantic comedy movies that you have to watch.

Well, I say NOT TODAY because we've got a list of movies that give you a somewhat realistic portrayal of love.

1. The Break-Up

Of COURSE, we're starting with The Break-Up. This movie just tells you one thing plain and simple: A relationship is a two-way street. Capiche?

2. 500 Days of Summer

Ugh, look. We all know that lovesick boy that's glued to the idea of being your forever. 500 Days of Summer tells us that all's not lost when it comes to love, even though it may feel like it. Even though it might feel like hell, please get over it already.

3. The Reader

*record scratch* Did she just type The Reader

You bet I did. This movie has NO written all over it. But it carries a pretty truthful meaning behind love; you can fall for someone unexpectedly, try your best to help them, and fail.

4. Juno

Teenage pregnancy is the most hard-hitting reality many people face. Not every teenage pregnancy ends up being warm and sweet. Juno shows us how two teenagers have to make very grown-up decisions that affect both their lives.

5. Blue Valentine

You see those adorable couples on Facebook? Yeah well, Blue Valentine is sort of a tell-all for those couples that get on our nerves. The movie shows us that not every perfect couple is the definition of "perfect".

6. Crimson Peak

Crimson Peak is one story that won't get out of your head anytime soon. All I can say about this movie is that is shows us how some people can be trapped in a love they did not choose.

7. How To Be Single

I mean, does a movie title get any clearer? This movie shows you how to loosen up and love yourself. Also, Rebel Wilson is another reason to watch the movie. That woman is a comedy queen!

8. They Came Together

Do you need a good detox? They Came Together is an excellent example of how cliched romcoms can be. I'd recommend this movie to a friend that insists they had the perfect "first meeting" with their beau. Ewww, no.

9. Silver Linings Playbook

Silver Linings Playbook is a combination of a rom-com and drama, but it's the challenges our protagonists go through that should grab your attention.

10. Movie 43

Now if the concept of Valentine's day confuses you as much as it does me, then Movie 43 is definitely for you.
