A newly released CCTV footage shows a mother walking hand-in-hand with a young girl in Mexico before she was found dead and naked in a wheelie bin with injuries indicating she had been brutally tortured.

On February 11, seven-year-old Fatima Anton was reported missing from her school. Four days later, her brutalized body was found in Tlahuac, Mexico City, Daily Star reports. Gladis Hernandez -- the woman in the footage -- allegedly abducted the youngster after her husband Mario Najera threatened her that he would abuse their own children if she didn't bring him a child to be his "girlfriend."

According to the General Attorney's Office, the couple have now been arrested, with officials saying their three children also showed signs of emotional and physical abuse.

A medical examination of Najera's two girls and a boy found there was considerable evidence of sexual assault and abandonment.

While speaking to authorities, Najera's aunt Irma Reyes said she didn't know the pair was absconding from law enforcement until their mugshots were shown on TV. She immediately confronted them about the said allegations.

Gladis reportedly told Irma that Mario had ordered her to bring him a minor as a "girlfriend," threatening to abuse their own children otherwise.

Irma subsequently turned her nephew in to the authorities, revealing to them how the couple was hiding in a house in the municipality of Isidro Fabela that belonged to Mario's deceased father. Reyes indicated she would refuse the two million Mexican pesos ($100,000) bounty offered by police for information on the suspects.

“They cannot get away with it, I do not want them to give me money, I just want justice,” she said.

According to local media, the children's maternal grandmother has since applied for custody of the embattled children.

However, the children -- described as "vulnerable" -- will remain in the care of the state until the investigation concludes. “They are children in vulnerable conditions and we are going to pay attention to them so the family can have the support they need," the head of government of Mexico City said.
