A 38-year-old woman who drowned her twin babies in the bath has blamed their father for the children's deaths in a "sick" letter written from inside her secure mental health unit, according to reports. Samantha Ford was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment for manslaughter after she pleaded guilty to drowning her babies Jake and Chloe when they were 23 months old.

Ford, after killing her babies on Boxing Day 2018, also attempted to take her own life by driving her car into the back of a lorry in Margate. She reportedly killed her "miracle" UVF babies as an act of revenge after her husband moved the family from their "perfect life" in Qatar back to the UK.

The late children's father, Steven Ford, had told the Old Bailey earlier this year that his wife had deliberately taken the lives of their "terrified, confused" children because they had split after giving up a lavish expat life in Qatar, and she believed this was apt revenge.

Steven said Samantha had not wanted to leave Qatar for "s***hole" Margate and was "emotionally controlling." A few hours after killing her children, she reportedly drove into the back of a lorry without wearing her seatbelt and crashed. After the incident, she told officers: "Just let me die, I killed my babies. I would never hurt them, they are my miracle babies."

Steven now has suffered further heartbreak after Ford wrote a spiteful letter to him, blaming him for the twins' deaths. The 36-year-old, in a furious social media post, called her a "sicko" and claimed that the letter proves she is a "narcissist." He also blamed the mental health facility for allowing her to send him a letter.

"The UK failed justice system strikes again. The murderer who killed my children has sent a twisted letter to my mum," he wrote, according to the Daily Mail. "Trevor Gibbens Unit in Maidstone should be ashamed for letting this happen.. The injustice continues." Ford is currently being held at the Trevor Gibbens Unit until she is deemed fit for prison.

"I'm talking to the police and the unit to see if we can prevent this from happening again," Steven said. "My mum is absolutely distraught by this. It's made her ill. She's been crying all day. The letter is her blaming me for the death of my children.  Blaming my mum for not supporting her and she calls me a sicko and says my behaviour is disgusting. It's further proof she is a narcissist. She says she won't return my children's belongings to me, which her family have and that she will not make the divorce easy. Not once does she say sorry for what she has done."

A prosecutor during Ford's sentencing earlier this year said: "This is a tragic and, in some respects, complex case. On the night of December 27 last year, the defendant killed her twin children Jake and Chloe Ford. They were aged 23 months, and she killed them, it would appear, by drowning them in the bath at the family home in Margate. The defendant was charged with murder and on May 28 she entered pleas of not guilty to two counts of murder, but guilty to the offense of manslaughter by reason of diminished responsibility. For reasons the court is aware of those pleas were eventually accepted by the prosecution."
