Two women steal 7-year-old's MAGA hat, seen ripping Trump poster outside DNC in viral video

The video soon triggered an intense debate, with Trump supporters calling for charges to be brought against the two women

Footage circulating on social media shows a Trump-supporting mom accusing two women of stealing her seven-year-old son's MAGA hat and ripping up their sign right outside Joe Biden's Democratic National Convention speech this week. With 3.9 million views as of early Saturday, the clip posted on Thursday shows two groups of people engaged in an altercation, where the woman filming accuses the other group of 'stealing my property'.

Having already sparked a vivid debate among Twitter users, the footage begins with a woman kicking a sign. The woman filming can be heard saying "Get off my property." The two women from the other group then rip up the sign and one of them snatches the 'Make America Great Again' hat from the ground. The agitated mother can be heard telling the women they are committing a felony, all the while encouraging her son to go after them.

"Get your hat back baby," the mother keeps saying repeatedly. As the little boy runs after the other group walking away, he can be heard saying "call 911" to his mother. The mother then tells people she seems to know that the other two women 'attacked my son'. When a man comes over, things get violent. One of the other two women appears to throw a punch at the man.

The video soon garnered an intense debate, with Trump supporters calling for charges to be brought against the two women. The POTUS's son Donald Trump Jr. also shared the video on Twitter, and called it 'sick'. "Last night, Joe Biden supporters viciously attacked Riley, a 7 year-old @realDonaldTrump fan," he tweeted. "Joe Biden supporters stole Riley’s hat, ripped up his sign & made him cry. Watch. It’s on video. This is sick."

Eric Trump also shared the president would send the seven-year-old a new hat. When one person tweeted "Mr. President, Can you get this young man a new MAGA hat?" Eric replied "Consider it done!"

The same tweet also earned a response from Trump Jr. as he wrote "Already on it @dbongino"

Others were also seen slamming the mother for putting her son in harm's way. "Unpopular opinion: The mother recording is a bad mom, who put her child in harms way for clout," wrote one.

"The mother that allowed her kid to support racism and misogyny is the bigger problem here," tweeted another.

Other's pointed out the irony in the president's supporters outraging over a child's hat getting stolen, while Trump's now-suspended policy at the US-Mexico border had separated several others from their families. "In Trump's America, it's only acceptable for 7 year olds to be separated from their family and locked up in cages," wrote a user.

A third one wrote "compared to Trump's world, where locking 7 year olds up alone in a cage without access to their parents or basic necessities is ok, sooo... lesser of two evils here, folks!"

The Students for Trump organization, who had originally shared the video of the altercation, also tweeted that the White House had called the boy since the incident.
