El Senor was moved to the US after the country requested his extradition.

Felix-Felix is accused of coordinating cocaine shipments and laundering of millions of dollars for the cartel.

He is also reportedly the lead defendant in the prosecution, which alleges an operation that spanned five countries: the US, Canada, Mexico, Ecuador and Columbia.

According to the indictment, the case involves an undercover American Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) agent who infiltrated the cartel that moved tons of drugs to the US and hundreds of millions of dollars in bulk currency.

Reports state that some of that laundered money was deposited into a bank account in San Diego. That particular account was secretly held by the DEA.

Joaquín Archivaldo Guzmán Loera — popularly known as El Chapo — was born on 25 December 1954. He is a Mexican drug lord, who headed a criminal organization named after the Mexican Pacific coast state of Sinaloa named Sinaloa Cartel.

El Chapo became Mexico's top drug kingpin in 2003 after his rival Osiel Cárdenas Guillén of the Gulf Cartel was arrested. The United States Department of the Treasury considered the Mexican drug lord the "most powerful drug trafficker in the world."
