Mexican mayor Alejandro Aparicio Santiago shot dead by gunmen on his first day in office
Aparicio Santiago was reportedly on his way to his first official meeting at City Hall on Tuesday when he was killed by a group of gunmen.
The mayor of a Mexican city was shot dead on his first day of work on Tuesday. Reports said Alejandro Aparicio Santiago was recently sworn in as the mayor of Tlaxiaco, in Mexico's southern state of Oaxaca.
Aparicio Santiago was reportedly on his way to his first official meeting at City Hall on Tuesday when he was killed by a group of gunmen.
The mayor, who was a member of the National Regeneration Movement, had just taken office in Tlaxiaco when he was attacked, according to the New York Post. At least four other people were also wounded in the attack. The mayor was rushed to the hospital, however, he succumbed to his injuries.
