'Meow: The Secret Boy' Episode 5: Now that Jae-sun knows Hong-jo's secret, will he tell Sol-ah?
Is it time for the Secret Boy's secret to be out now that the real Guk-bong is back in town? 'Meow: The Secret Boy' Episode 5 sees Hong Jo struggle with how he could be the reason why Jae-sun and Sol-ah didn't get a chance to be together. He also finds out that the real Guk-bong is back in town and is worried about how to tell the truth about himself to Sol-ah. Hong Jo decides that he should stop lying to Sol-ah, concluding that he will tell the truth and help clarify the misunderstanding between Sol-ah and Jae-sun before he leaves to become a stray cat.
He confesses that he is not really Guk-bong, but Sol-ah doesn't take him seriously. Instead, she believes that he has a girlfriend who comes over to stay with him and that he wants to keep it a secret. In reality, though, the one sleeping in the room is the real Guk-bong who dons long hair. She also initially misunderstands that human Hong-jo is seeing her colleague after seeing them sitting on a park bench. It isn't until later that she learns that she was mistaken.
Hong-jo also attempts to clear the misunderstanding between Jae-sun and Sol-ah by bringing Sol-ah's scarf to her attention. This scarf was the one that Jae-sun had seen the abandoned kitten wrapped in and because of which he assumed that Sol-ah had abandoned her kitten. The fact that she did not do such a thing came to light after Hong-jo created a situation wherein Jae-sun and Sol-ah would have to clear the air about what really happened.
Instead of being happy that Jae-sun's misunderstanding had been cleared, Sol-ah gets mad at him for not even having the courtesy to ask her about the truth. She understands that it is Jae-sun's tendency to believe the worst in people to ensure that he doesn't begin to trust them completely. This is his defense mechanism to ensure that he isn't abandoned once again by someone he trusts and Sol-ah points out the same to him and reiterates that she is not someone who would abandon a kitten.
After a bad day, Sol-ah decides to have a drink with her colleague and by the time she gets home, she is completely sloshed. So she doesn't remember anything about Hong-jo's confession but instead comes face to face with the real Guk-bong, and which leaves her shocked. Turns out it's not because she learned the truth but because she found a post about Guk-bong wanting to change his name.
Jae-sun, on the other hand, also sees the real Guk-bong come out of Sol-ah's house from his cafe located right opposite. When he comes to his cafe and says that he would like to pay for Sol-ah's coffee in advance to celebrate the fact that they have become family, he is shocked.
All this while, he had believed Hong-jo to be Guk-bong so the truth comes as a rude shock. To be fair, Hong-jo had never claimed that he was Guk-bong, but he went along with Sol-ah's assumption. Now, Hong-jo has no choice but to leave Sol-ah and the comfort of her company behind. He also bids goodbye to his friend in the neighborhood, a kid who had until now been teaching Hong-jo the human ways and helping him adapt.
So when he arrives home to say farewell to Sol-ah and finds out that she is yet to learn the truth about the real Guk-bong, Hong-jo is stunned. Sol-ah is completely drunk, and in this state, she ends up telling Hong-jo that she wants him to be Guk-bong and not change his name. Just as she passes out drunk Jae-sun arrives in time to catch hold of her and ask Hong-jo the one million dollar question: Who is he?
Can Hong-jo really tell Jae-sun that he is a cat who transforms into a human when he is near Sol-ah?
New episodes of 'Meow: The Secret Boy' will air on Wednesday and Thursday on KBS2 at 10 pm.
