Melania Trump follows only five people on Twitter and one of them is her husband's least favorite person
It is not clear when Melania began following her husband’s predecessor, the intriguing development, however, was pointed out British novelist Matt Haig on Friday.
First Lady Melania Trump follows only five people on the popular micro-blogging site Twitter, and one of them is arguably President Donald Trump's least favorite person — former President Barack Obama. Republican President Trump has been a very vocal critic of Democrat Obama and his policies and has been reportedly striving to overturn all the concrete legislation passed during Obama's tenure as the US president, including the Democrat's landmark Affordable Care Act.
Reports state that the First Lady has been distant lately from President Trump ever since reports of his alleged affair with adult film star Stormy Daniels emerged. She was also reportedly "furious" by the reports that her husband covered-up the affair by paying Daniels hush money.
A Wall Street Journal report, on January 18, stated that one of Trump's lawyers, Michael Cohen, had arranged a $130,000 payment for Daniels on the eve of the 2016 presidential election. It is not clear when Melania began following her husband’s predecessor, the intriguing development, however, was pointed out by British novelist Matt Haig on Friday.
Haig tweeted: "It’s a lovely bit of husband-trolling that Melania Trump only follows five people and one of them is Barack Obama.”
Reports state that Melania, on her @FLOTUS Twitter account, previously followed just four people: her husband, @POTUS; second lady Karen Pence, @SecondLady; Vice President Mike Pence, @VP; and @realDonaldTrump. Her @FLOTUS account has a total of 9.77 million followers.
Although Melania's reason for following Obama is not known, it is certainly clear that the First Lady has had a very limited interaction with the former president.
Melania, a few days after Trump's election win, met the Obamas in the White House, however, during that meeting she spent most of her time in a separate room with former First Lady Michelle Obama, while Donald Trump and Barack Obama had discussions in the Oval Office.
The Trumps and the Obamas officially met after the elections for the second time on Inauguration Day, before the swearing-in ceremony. The couples had the traditional cup of tea during a presidential succession, reports state.
Ever since the release of the alleged affairs reports, the first lady has made few public appearances. Reports state that she even canceled her plans to travel with President Trump to the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland. Even though Melania attended Trump's first State of the Union, she broke years-long tradition by arriving separately to the event.
