Despite reports suggesting that Melania Trump was trying to convince her husband, President Donald Trump, to come to terms with the results of this year's election and concede the race to president-elect Joe Biden, the first lady's tweet on Sunday, November 8, seemed to back the unproven claims of voter-fraud touted by the POTUS. "The American people deserve fair elections. Every legal - not illegal - vote should be counted. We must protect our democracy with complete transparency," she tweeted. This came as CNN reported that the FLOTUS had privately approached her spouse to urge him to accept the election loss, according to a source familiar with the conversation that took place.

Melania's tweet was trolled by a number of people, most of whom seemed to be supporters of Biden. "The votes were counted and TRump lost fair and square," one said, while another wrote, "It's a beautiful loss. saying it's the most perfect loss maybe ever. No one has ever had a loss like this. Never before. Huge loss the likes of which have never been seen. People are saying the SDNY want to talk to me about some big things come January. We'll see what happens." A third added, "Go back to Slovenia, where you're legal to vote. We still haven't seen the immigration paperwork you promised to show us."

"We counted the legal votes. Your husband lost. Pack your sh*t, lady. The long national nightmare is over," the next wrote. Another referred to an old report which claimed that Melania hated being criticized for her Christmas decorations. "You don’t even have to do the Christmas decorations this year. We did them for you," the user said, while another commented, "I prefer A President who DOESN'T TRY to SUPPRESS the VOTES of the American People. NEVER has a President TRIED SO HARD & in SO MANY WAYS to PREVENT Americans from VOTING ONLY A 'LOSER' would use such DESPERATE Tactics @realDonaldTrump is a LOSER."

Some of the others were not convinced that the tweet was written by Melania. "Trump took melanias phone and tweeted this i can tell," one said, while another wrote, "Dear Melanie (Third Wife), I'm still not ready to come out of the Bathroom and Concede, but I'm VERY Hungry! Could you leave 10 Buckets of KFC outside my Bathroom Door? Thank You! Donald J. Trump (Husband)."

Moments after CNN and other networks projected that Biden will become the 46th President of the United States, Trump asserted in a statement from his campaign that Biden was "rushing to falsely pose as the winner" and that the race was "far from over". "I will not rest until the American People have the honest vote count they deserve and that Democracy demands," Trump said in the statement, which further explained that his legal battle will begin on Monday, November 11.

According to CNN's report, sources also said that Jared Kushner, Trump's son-in-law, and senior adviser, has also approached him to concede. Meanwhile, Trump's two sons, Donald Jr and Eric, continue to push Republicans and supporters to publicly reject the results. Trump campaign spokesman Jason Miller in a tweet Sunday morning denied that Kushner has approached Trump. "This story is not true," said Miller. "Jared has advised @realDonaldTrump to pursue all available legal remedies to ensure accuracy."
