Megyn Kelly showered praise on President Donald Trump's “well-tempered” debate performance on Thursday, October 22, night, sparking an immediate backlash from celebrities and users online.

The renowned journalist grabbed headlines in 2015 when she called the future president out over his past misogynistic comments during a Republican primary debate in 2015. She noted how he had called women he didn't like “fat pigs, dogs, slobs and disgusting animals”. Following the debate, Trump told CNN’s Don Lemon that Kelly's questions were “ridiculous” and “off-base”. “You could see there was blood coming out of her eyes,” Trump added. “Blood coming out of her wherever.”

Furthermore, the former real estate mogul also threatened to boycott a subsequent debate on Fox News after the network chose to keep her as a moderator. Trump later urged his social media followers to boycott Kelly's show on Fox News. “Everybody should boycott the [Megyn Kelly] show,” he wrote. “Never worth watching. Always a hit on Trump! She is sick and the most overrated person on TV.”

Nonetheless, it appears Kelly has forgiven Trump for the past feud and let bygones be bygones — especially since she lauded his performance in the debate. "Trump won this debate, handily. Biden wasn’t a force at all. Trump was substantive, on-point, well-tempered. Definitely helped himself, when it mattered most," she tweeted.

What's more? The President even retweeted the post — thereby indicating that their past is behind them. Several celebrities, however, were shocked at Kelly's analysis of the debate and slammed her for the same. Former Apprentice contestant Aubrey O’Day, an ex-girlfriend of Trump’s son Don Jr, asked her if she’d been "drinking bleach".

Patricia Arquette asked Kelly if she had “windmill cancer” — sarcastically referring to Trump’s claim that windmills can cause cancer. Kelly responded saying she was still capable of "engaging in fair analysis" and that the actress "wouldn't understand". "You’re still an intensely inane, racist, incompetent person, @megynkelly. On behalf of Americans with IQs over 75, please exit the stage," disgraced commentator Keith Olbermann added.

Meanwhile, anti-Trump users also lashed out at the former Fox News star. "The only thing that was "substantial" about Trump in this debate was the amount of time he spent leaning against his podium in order to stay standing," one user wrote.

"Megyn, my puppy is well-tempered. My nine-year-old niece is well-tempered. That the bar is so subterranean that his avalanche of lies and duplicity is considered well-tempered suggests you need to really rethink everything about who you are and why you think you still matter," another added.

"Substantive if you ignore the fact he was lying a mile a minute. For anyone else that would be disqualifying. Reminds me of my favorite (and most accurate) cartoon from 2016. The bar for Trump has been lowered so far that people give him praise for simply not exploding on stage," a third user wrote.

"The lies were out of control. Having a healthcare plan would have made him look like less of a liar. But this was just more of the same. The debates should help us make an informed decision. I doubt he convinced many undecided voters. He has no new tricks," a fourth chimed in.

"Trump didn’t act like a toddler in need of a nap. That’s some high bar. Other than that, he had no policy plans, could point to no successes, and lied and lied and lied, including endless conspiracy theories. He needs to start a trashy tabloid, not be President. #BidenWonTheDebate," another tweeted
